Northport PD Blotter: Potential LI Marketplace Scammer Reported

Checks that appeared to be fake were sent to a man looking to sell a muffler, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Sept. 13 through Sept. 19.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A woman fainted at Hair Together on Sept. 13.
  • A group singing karaoke at Village Park was asked to leave at 9 p.m. Sept. 13.
  • Northport police helped Suffolk police with a man who overdosed and went unconscious at 1:12 a.m. Sept. 14.
  • A man told police he was selling a muffler for $300 on Long Island Marketplace when a potential buyer contacted him. The "buyer" sent him a check for $2,300 which appeared to be fake, police said. When questioned, the buyer sent another check that appeared to be fake for $1,980, according to police. The man did not sustain any monetary loss and was advised to disregard any checks from the buyer, police said.
  • Two neighbors got into an argument after one of the neighbors called out to a cat and walked towards his property on Sept. 14. The man yelled at the woman to not go on his property, and she turned around and went back to her house.
  • A summons was issued to someone on Scudder Avenue following a parking complaint on Sept. 15.
  • A man was found unresponsive in a bathtub on Soundcrest Avenue on Sept. 15. He was moved to the living room and was administered Narcan and CPR/AED. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
  • A woman who fainted at Village Dock on Sept. 16 was brought to Huntington Hospital.
  • A man lost his driver's license while riding his bike on Bayview Avenue on Sept. 17.
  • A child's backpack belonging to a "Michael" was found on Fort Salonga Road on Sept. 18. The backpack was brought to Northport police headquarters.
  • A drunken man was acting erratically and yelling at people on the Village Dock around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 18. Police could not find the man in the area.
  • A snap-on toolbag was found on Waterside Avenue on Sept. 19. The bag was brought to Northport police headquarters.
  • A parking ticket was issued to the owner of a Honda who illegally parked in front of someone's house on Scudder Avenue on Sept. 19.
  • A woman overdosed on Burt Avenue on Sept. 19. Narcan was administered, and the woman was brought to Huntington Hospital. Drug paraphernalia was collected and is set to be destroyed.
