Northport PD Blotter: Several Social Distancing Violation Reports
The department received multiple reports of groups not following social distancing guidelines during the coronavirus, Northport police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from April 20 through 26.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A man said on the afternoon of April 17, he was approached by someone on his Soundcrest Avenue property who began yelling at him for an unknown reason. The man said the person wasn't making sense and left the property without any further trouble. The man said he was making the report for informational purposes only. The incident was reported April 20.
- A dog was found with no collar or tags on Whispering Fields Drive. An officer brought the dog to North Shore Animal Hospital so it could be then taken by Town of Huntington Animal Control. The incident happened April 20.
- An officer freed an animal stuck in a fence on James Street by cutting a small hole in the fence on April 22.
- Police responded to Scudder Park for a report of a suspicious man in a yellow Chevrolet. The man told police he was parked by the water and looking at the view. The incident happened April 22.
- A large group of people were congregating on Turnip Hill Street, and someone called the police. The group was warned and admonished. They left without further incident. This happened April 22.
- A man refused to wear a mask in Giuntas Meat Farm on Fort Salonga Road. After an officer spoke with him, the man agreed to wear a mask cover the next time he enters the store. The incident happened April 24.
- A backpack was abandoned on Bayview Avenue. The backpack and its contents were placed in the property bin. It had been found April 25.
- Someone told police Village Park was overcrowded and people weren't obeying social distancing guidelines around 3 p.m. April 25. Officers didn't see any violations.
- Police responded to Milland Drive for a report of a party on April 25, but police didn't see any violations.
- A small dog got loose on Schooner Avenue. The dog was returned to the owner, who was warned and admonished by police. The incident happened April 25.
- Police responded to Rockin' Fish on Main Street for a report of a group not following social distancing. The officer disbanded the group. The incident was reported April 25.
- Police responded to Cherry Street for a report of three cars parked in front of the home. Someone said the cars were lined up for a birthday parade which was about to begin. The incident happened April 26.
