Northport PD Blotter: Woman Drove Drunk With Cup Of Wine In Car

ALSO: A man was driving with vials of a liquid in the car that officers believe to be testosterone, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Oct. 6 through Oct. 11.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Kristi Ohl, 55, of Centerport, was driving a gray 2017 Toyota Highlander at 11 p.m. Oct. 6 when she swerved in and out of her lane several times on westbound Fort Salonga Road, police said. The officer who stopped Ohl observed her breath smelled of alcohol, her eyes were glassy and bloodshot, her speech was slurred, she was very unsteady on her feet and she performed poorly on several standardized field sobriety tests, police said. Ohl also had a clear plastic cup of white wine in her driver-side cup holder, police said. Ohl was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, unsafe lane change, operate motor vehicle by unlicensed driver, DWI: BAC reading, and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • William McClean, 34, of Huntington, was speeding in a 2020 GMC west on Fort Salonga Road at 12:48 a.m. Oct. 8, police said. Police stopped McClean and found that his license was suspended, police said. McClean was asked if there was anything illegal in his car, to which he said he had testosterone on the passenger seat, police said. An officer found 40 5-millilitre glass vials of a clear liquid substance believed to be testosterone, police said. The vials were sent to a lab to be tested, police said. McClean was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and speeding: posted zone.

Incidents

  • A debit card was found in Municipal Lot #1 of Constitution Square on Oct. 6. The finder handed the card over to Northport police.
  • A man reported damage to the passenger's side of his car. He first noticed the damage on Sept. 21. The man doesn't know how the damage happened, but when he went to get his car repaired, the insurance company requested a police report. The incident was reported Oct. 7.
  • Music was being amplified in Village Park without a permit. The musician was advised of the Village Code and left the area. The incident happened Oct. 7.
  • Police responded to a Woodbine Avenue home for reported smoke. The resident was burning leaves and branches in his backyard. The Northport Fire Department told him he should put out the fire, which he did. The incident happened Oct. 8.
  • An officer saw 30 to 40 vehicles gathering in the parking lot of the Laurel Avenue School appearing to be part of a political caravan on Oct. 8. As the officer approached the cars, they began to travel northbound on Laurel Avenue and continue onto Main Street. Police observed the caravan to ensure all vehicles followed the rules of the road and to ensure the safety of other cars and people. Officers watched the parade until all vehicles were out of village limits.
  • A woman reported she received a GoBank credit card in the mail. She told police she reached out to all credit monitoring services and wanted to document the incident. She suffered no financial loss and didn't give out any financial information. The incident was reported Oct. 9.
  • A car parked in a zone reserved for the Northport Farmers Market. The owner couldn't be reached and was issued a summons. The incident happened Oct. 10.
  • A raccoon on Douglas Avenue was showing clear symptoms of distemper on Oct. 10. The raccoon was put down and disposed of.
  • An officer saw a green sport bike with no license plate speeding westbound on Fort Salonga road and Soper Avenue. The officer couldn't keep up with the motorcycle as it fled south on Elwood Road. The motorcyclist was a man wearing a neon green helmet. The incident happened Oct. 10.
  • A loud party with music was being thrown on Stanton Street around 11:20 p.m. Oct. 10. The resident agreed to lower the music when police were called.
  • A resident reported footprints on her newly-sealed driveway. She said sometime between the night of Oct. 10 and following morning, someone walked up her driveway and left footprints on her patio/walkway at her front door. The footprints appeared accidental, possibly a solicitor or delivery person, police said. The woman wanted the incident documented for informational purposes.
  • A raccoon on Scudder Avenue was showing clear symptoms of distemper on Oct. 11. The raccoon was euthanized and disposed of.
  • A couple went to police headquarters on Oct. 11 to document numerous interactions with their neighbor in which the neighbor became very aggressive towards them in addition to yelling and cursing at their children. They also said the neighbor told their children that she was going to have her dog go after them. The report was taken for documentation purposes. Police spoke with the neighbor, and told her to avoid all contact with the family in the future.
  • A lawn sign was stolen from a Duffy Court front yard. The theft was reported Oct. 11.
  • A man fainted at Ritz Cafe on Oct. 11. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
  • There was a car crash with injuries on Fort Salonga Road at 2:10 p.m. Oct. 11. Northport police helped control traffic until Suffolk police arrived.
  • A raccoon on West Scudder Place was showing clear signs of distemper on Oct. 11. The raccoon was euthanized and disposed of.
  • An iPad, found on Ocean Avenue, was turned into police headquarters on Oct. 11.
  • A group of drunken people were yelling and causing a disturbance on Main Street at 4:40 p.m. Oct. 11. Officers helped them get taxis to take them home.
