Northport Pets Of The Week: Luke Skywalker & Princess Leia

NORTHPORT, NY — Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, a pair of 4-month-old bonded siblings named after the famous "Star Wars" characters, are the Northport Cat Rescue Association's Kittens of the Week.

"These famous siblings are finally ready for adoption!," Lora Wild, a volunteer at the rescue, told Patch. "Just like the originals, big brother Luke looks after his little sister!"

Luke has orange and white fur, along with big eyes. He's considered playful and sweet, and he purrs whenever someone holds him, giving kisses as he snuggles up to them, Wild said.

"He loves his sister a ton, and never passes up an opportunity to cuddle with her, or search for her when she is not around," Wild said. "He likes other cats and is even extremely playful with the big dog he is currently being fostered with, as he is fearless!"

Leia was described as dainty by Wild. She has big eyes and a loving personality.

"She is perfectly happy to just relax on the bed with you, as you can often find her helping her foster family with their homework while they read their books or work on their computers," Wild said. "With her calm personality, she brings relaxation to anyone she is near."

Like her brother, she too gets along with other cats and dogs.

"Both kittens will let you snuggle them as they purr in your arms, or play as you throw a ball across the room," Wild said. "They are the perfect duo and we know they will adjust to any new home and bring joy and love to any family. Luke and Leia are bonded, and, unlike the original famous siblings, are hoping to grow up together in the same home. Any family who adopts these two will be very lucky and never regret it!"

They are spayed and neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
