Northport Police Blotter: 2 Deer Trapped In Fences
Officers were able to rescue the deer in one case, but had to euthanize another deer that was impaled on another fence.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from Oct. 7 to Oct. 13.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
Arrests

- Michael Tillman, 28, of Ronkonkoma, surrendered himself on an active warrant, police said. He was charged with violation of probation on Oct. 7.
- Jessica Karakatsanis, 24, of West Babylon, was the passenger in a 2016 Chrysler that was pulled over after a narcotic investigation, police said. Police say they found Alprazolam pills in her wallet. She was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Oct. 8.
- Anthony Zinzi, 24, of East Northport, was driving a 2016 Chrysler northbound on Catherine Street when he failed to signal his intent to drive back onto the road after he pulled from the curb, police said. He possessed Alprazolam pills, cocaine, hypodermic needles, plastic bags and a scale, police said. He was arrested and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and failed to signal a turn on Oct. 8.
- Steven Briscoe, 27, of Huntington Station, was arrested on a Northport Village arrest warrant, police said. He was charged with failure to appear on Oct. 9.
- Zachary Vizzi, 24, of Huntington Station, was arrested on a Northport Village arrest warrant, police said. He was charged with failure to appear on Oct. 9.
- Thomas Dangelo, 61, of Northport, was arrested on a Northport Village arrest warrant, police said. He was charged with failure to pay fine on Oct. 10.
- Christopher Read, 29, of Ridge, surrendered himself on an active warrant, police said. He was charged with failure to pay fine on Oct. 11.
Incidents
- A deer was reported to be impaled on a fence on Steers Avenue. Police euthanized the deer and contacted Northport Highway to remove the deer. The incident happened Oct. 10 around 9 a.m.
- Two drivers were embroiled in a road rage-related argument on Ocean Avenue around 9 a.m. on Oct. 11. Police didn't see any violations, but warned both drivers about the dangers of on-road altercations.
- Police told a solicitor on Bluff Point Road to leave the area, to which the solicitor agreed. The incident happened Oct. 11.
- A deer was stuck in a fence on Nautilus Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 12. Police found the deer hanging with its hind leg stuck in the top of a fence. The deer was alive and had no apparent injuries, so officers attempted to free the deer. Officers were able to use a crowbar to free the deer without injuring it.
- An elderly man was driving in the Village Park pathway with garbage bags on the roof. He told police he wasn't familiar with the area and accidentally drove onto the park pathway looking for a dumpster, but reversed once he realized it wasn't a roadway. The officer issued the driver a warning summons on Oct. 13.
