Northport Police Blotter: 2 Drivers On Drugs Arrested

A man was found in the car unconscious with the engine running, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Aug. 30 through Sept. 6.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Christina Davilla, 31, of Northport, drove off after police said she knocked a sign down and hit a pole with her Jeep Wrangler around 9:13 a.m. Sept. 1. Police found the Jeep two miles away on Norwood Road, and the vehicle had heavy front-end damage and a flat tire on the driver's side, police said. Davilla had glassy eyes with pinpoint pupils which were slow to react, as well as slurred and sluggish speech, police said. Davilla was very unsteady on her feet and performed poorly on several standardized field sobriety tests, police said. She refused a breath test but consented to a blood test, police said. Davilla was arrested and charged with driving ability impaired by drugs, leaving the scene of an incident, five counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation: based on mandatory suspension, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation: refused chemical test, unsafe lane change and criminal possession of hypodermic instrument.
  • Jesse Volpe, 29, of Northport, was in a car crash on Norwood Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Sept. 3, police said. Volpe, who was in the driver's seat, was found unconscious with the keys in the ignition, engine running and both passenger side wheels over the curb, police said. Narcan was administered to Volpe by Northport Rescue, and he regained consciousness, police said. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital. Volpe was arrested and charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving ability impaired by drugs, and improper lane use.

Incidents

  • A trespass affidavit was filed at Northport Yacht Club on Aug. 30.
  • Graffiti was reported at Ocean Avenue School on Aug. 31.
  • A sinkhole opened up on Burr Avenue on Aug. 31. Officers contacted the Northport Village Highway Department and asked for their help in filling the hole and freeing a vehicle. The vehicle was removed without damage.
  • A cement chess table in Village Park was reportedly damaged on Sept. 1.
  • A Woodhull Place homeowner and a cesspool company got into an argument on Sept. 2. A woman said she contacted the company to look at her tank, and during the inspection, the employee reportedly got "very agitated and rude" towards the woman. When she called the company to make a complaint, she said the person on the phone was also "very rude." Police suggested the woman avoid using the company in the future.
  • A man who overdosed was found in a Dolphin Lane home's garage at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 3. Police administered four doses of nasal Narcan. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
  • A man overdosed and was found sitting outside on a chair on Dolphin Lane at 11:20 a.m. Sept. 4. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
  • Men were reportedly yelling at the staff of Britannia Yachting Center and refusing to pay for their dock space on Sept. 4. An employee said three men on a boat docked at the marina and refused to pay. The boat owner eventually paid and had since left the area, the complainant told police.
  • A parking summons was issued to the driver of a 2019 Subaru that parked where a no parking sign is posted on Duffy Court on Sept. 4.
