Northport Police Blotter: $2K Cash Stolen From Car
ALSO: A car was stolen but recovered, several more cars were broken into, and a dead hawk was found, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from July 31 through Aug. 6.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A woman's paddle board lock was tampered with and broken off at Steers Beach on July 31.
- Fraudulent checks were cashed, Cis Abstract Inc. reported to police on Aug. 1.
- People got stuck in an elevator at Northport Hotel on Aug. 1. Northport firefighters freed the people from the elevator.
- A man lost his wallet, and he believes he may have lost it at Country Hot Bagels on Fort Salonga Road on Aug 1.
- A vehicle was reported stolen on Ocean Avenue on Aug. 3. It was recovered on Locust Street on Aug. 3.
- Money was stolen from a vehicle on Highland Avenue on Aug. 3. Someone stole $350 in cash and credit card numbers, but the charges on the cards were reversed and the cards canceled.
- Someone rummaged through a car on Schooner Road on Aug. 3. No valuables were stolen.
- Someone stole a woman's checkbook from her vehicle, as well as a bag of change holding roughly $15, on Aug. 3, police said.
- Someone stole $2,000 in cash from the center console of a car on Aug. 3, police said.
- A grand larceny was reported on Clancy Drive on Aug. 3.
- A grand larceny was reported on Highland Avenue on Aug. 3.
- Someone rummaged through a car on Steers Avenue on Aug. 3. No valuables were stolen.
- A grand larceny was reported on Rutledge Avenue on Aug. 3.
- A dead raccoon was found on Main Street on Aug. 4. Police removed its carcass from the road.
- A dead hawk was found on Fransal Court on Aug. 5. The corpse was disposed of.
- A strong gas odor was coming from Seymours Boat Yard on Aug. 5. Police discovered the yard had a small leak from a fuel line that had gotten pinched in the gangway. The owner was trying to contain the leak. The Huntington Harbor Master was notified and responded to handle the scene. The Coast Guard was called as well.
- A man suffered a cut on his foot at the Northport Yacht Club and was taken to Huntington Hospital.
- Three bags were found in the woods near Bluff Point Road on Aug. 5. Police believe the bags were taken out of the owner's car by someone and tossed into the woods.
- A woman lost her wallet near Bayview Avenue on Aug. 6. The wallet contained credit cards, a Florida driver's license and other items.
- A vehicle was damaged on Bayview Avenue on Aug. 6.
