Northport Police Blotter: 3 Dead Deer; Road Rage; Rat Trap In Harbor
ALSO: Two loose dogs were rescued by police; and $90 was stolen from a woman's purse, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Nov. 6 through Nov. 12.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A man who a Harborview Drive homeowner did not know stumbled into his backyard on Nov. 6. Police determined the man had an "altered mental status" and might have had a seizure. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
- Loose dogs got out of a Woodbine Avenue home after an electrician accidentally let them out around 1 p.m. Nov. 6. Police searched the area but could not find the dogs. The dogs were found on Woodhull Place around 1:30 p.m. Nov. 6. Police found the dogs and brought them back to the owner.
- Northport police remained at the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Eatons Neck Road on Nov. 6 until Suffolk police arrived.
- A road rage was reported on Fort Salonga Road on Nov. 7. The caller told police another man cut him off, got out of his vehicle and started yelling obscenities at the caller, who just wanted the incident documented. An officer found the man driving and warned and admonished him.
- A dead deer was found on Nautilus Avenue on Nov. 7. Police arranged for its disposal.
- An oven nearly caught fire at a Waterside Avenue home on Nov. 8. Northport firefighters determined the stove coil malfunctioned, and there was no fire. The resident was told to have the stove repaired or replaced.
- A motor vehicle collision was reported on Waterside Avenue on Nov. 9. Northport police waited for Suffolk officers to arrive.
- Someone stole $90 from a woman's purse, she told police on Nov. 9.
- A summons was issued to the owner of a vehicle that was parked in a spot without a permit at Trinity Church on Nov. 10.
- Someone left the scene of a crash in Municipal Lot #1 on Nov. 10.
- A dead deer was found on Waterside Avenue on Nov. 11. The Northport Highway Department was notified.
- A black rat trap container was found floating in Northport Harbor on Nov. 11. Police removed it from the water.
- Northport firefighters doused a chimney fire on Woodhull Place on Nov. 11.
- Someone left the scene of a crash on Scudder Avenue on Nov. 11.
- A woman on Nov. 11 told police her downstairs neighbors are constantly yelling and banging the walls intentionally because they want to wake their baby up, but would like them to stop. Police spoke with the parents, who agreed to stop disturbing their upstairs neighbors.
- A dead deer was found on Waterside Avenue on Nov. 12. The Northport Highway Department was notified.
