Northport Police Blotter: 3 Mailboxes Uprooted Or Damaged
The mailboxes that were tampered with were all on the same road, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Dec. 12 through Dec. 18.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Two people were reportedly rowing a boat in choppy water in Northport Harbor on Dec. 12. Police did not see any boats in the water.
- There was a motor vehicle collision on Fort Salonga Road around 2:20 p.m. Dec. 12. Northport police assisted Suffolk police.
- A motor vehicle crash was reported on Alsace Place on Dec. 12.
- Someone found a cellphone on the sidewalk of Main Street on Dec. 13 and turned it in to police. The phone's owner retrieved it.
- A dog got loose on Church Street around 11:15 a.m. Dec. 14. Police could not find the dog in the area.
- A hit-and-run was reported on Woodbine Avenue around 11 a.m. Dec. 16.
- Police saw possible drug activity in front of Woodbine Avenue at 2:30 a.m. Dec. 17. Police stopped the vehicle that picked up two people, who told police that they were leaving a party to go meet their friend "Trevor," who they could not give a last name for. The two denied being involved in any illegal activity, police said.
- A mailbox was pulled out of the ground on Sea Cove Road on Dec. 18. A woman told police she came out of her home at noon and saw her mailbox on the ground. There was no damage to the mailbox or post itself.
- A second mailbox was pulled out of the ground on Sea Cove Road on Dec. 18. A man told police that his mailbox was pulled up from the ground and left on its side sometime overnight. Neither the mailbox or the post were damaged.
- A mailbox was damaged on Sea Cove Road, a resident reported on Dec. 18.
