Northport Police Blotter: Basketballs Shot From Sewer Plant Roof

ALSO: Multiple summons were issued for illegal parking, and police settled an argument between a landlord and tenant, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Sept. 25 through Oct. 2.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A man tripped on a tree root that had grown over the sidewalk of Church Street on Sept. 26. The man suffered cuts to his nose and forehead and was taken to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.
  • Police helped settle an argument between a landlord and tenant on Woodbine Avenue on Sept. 26. A woman said her landlord changed the locks on her apartment when she was supposed to have until the end of the month to move out. Police spoke with the landlord who said she was under the impression that the tenant had already moved from the apartment. The landlord agreed to put the old lock back in until the agreed-upon move-out date. Everyone was satisfied.
  • People were warned and admonished for attempting basketball trick shots from the roof of the Northport Sewer Plant on Sept. 27.
  • A summons was issued on Sept. 28 to the owner of a boat who left their vessel tied to the dock for several days. The vessel had expired registration.
  • A summons was issued on Sept. 29 to the driver of a vehicle parked in the school drop-off zone of Little Sprouts By The Sea.
  • A phone in poor condition and unable to be charged was found by someone on Highland Avenue on Sept. 29. Police could not determine the phone's owner and placed it in the temporary bin.
  • A summons was issued on Sept. 29 to the driver of a vehicle parked illegally at Robkes Country Inn.
  • Police helped an older couple on Vail Street turn on their Internet, as the couple had forgot to plug all their wires into the router. This happened on Oct. 1.
