Northport Police Blotter: Christmas Tree Catches Fire On Village Dock

ALSO: Hawks have been leaving animal carcasses on a woman's garage, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Dec. 5 through Dec. 11.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Police brought a man to a train station on Dec. 5 after he fell asleep at an ATM vestibule on Fort Salonga Road. The man said he was discharged from the hospital and needed to get back to Queens to his shelter.
  • Drones were being flown near Rutledge Avenue on Dec. 5. Police could not find the people flying the drones.
  • A dog got loose on Rutledge Avenue on Dec. 5. Police found the dog and returned it to its owner.
  • A Christmas tree caught fire at the Village Dock around 10 p.m. Dec. 6. A faulty extension cord was the cause of the fire. Police were able to extinguish it.
  • An Oak Street resident reported animal carcasses on her garage on Dec. 8. She told police that two hawks that live in the area leave the carcass from their kills on her garage roof. She told police she has already contacted the United States Department of Agriculture about the hawk's behavior, but she wanted some advice on having the carcasses removed from her roof. Police told the woman to contact an exterminator for removal.
  • A drunken man refused to leave Napper Tandy's around 9 p.m. Dec. 9. The man told police he got kicked out of the bar. He agreed to leave and not return.
  • A highly intoxicated woman was brought to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue on Dec. 10.
  • A woman suffered cuts to her face from a motor vehicle crash on Fort Salonga Road around 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10. Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hospital.
  • A drunken man who fell and got hurt was brought to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue around 10 p.m. Dec. 11.
