Northport Police Blotter: Dead Deer Found Stuck Between 2 Fences
ALSO: Two people reported they were missing money from bank accounts, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Jan. 2 through Jan. 8.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Raw sewage was leaking from a pipe and spilling onto Main Street and its sidewalk on Jan. 2. An emergency plumber came to fix the pipe. A Northport Sewer Department employee confirmed there was no issue with the village's sewer system.
- A woman on Jan. 3 told police she was missing funds from her Automatic Data Processing account that her employer uses for payroll. She said when she tried to withdraw cash from the account using her Visa debit card, no funds were available and she was told to contact her banking establishment. The woman told police that her funds were withdrawn from two different Walgreens locations (1968 Grand Ave., Baldwin and 820 Fort Salonga Road, Northport), without her permission. On Dec. 23, $220 was taken from the Northport Walgreens and on Dec. 29, $580 was withdrawn from the Baldwin Walgreens, both at unknown times. The woman said she did not share her account information with anyone, nor did she lose her debit card at any point.
- A Gilbert Street resident on Jan. 3 reported money missing from her checking and
savings account. - Two trail cameras were stolen at Union Place on Jan. 4, police said.
- People were reportedly trying to get into cars parked on a Sea Cove Road driveway on Jan. 4. A woman told police that when her husband and sons heard a car alarm go off, they ran outside and chased the people toward Dolphin Lane. Police could not find the people.
- A woman lost her phone somewhere near Municipal Lot #1 on Jan. 7. Police helped her look but they could not find the phone.
- Police helped catch a loose dog on Ocean Avenue on Jan. 7.
- A woman on a walk with her daughter told police that a red, older-model Toyota Camry seemed to be following her around the neighborhood around 1:30 p.m. Jan. 7. Police could not find the Toyota Camry.
- A valet at John W. Engeman Theater accidentally locked keys in someone's car on Jan. 7. Police told the valet they needed permission from the car owners after the show to open the car. The driver's wife had a spare key.
- A dead deer was found stuck between two fences on Schooner Road on Jan. 8. Police told the caller that one 6-foot section of the fence would have to be removed to reach the deer carcass.
The man agreed and said he would think about his options to remove the deer. - A man was making unwanted phone calls to his employer, police were told on Jan. 8. The man also made "false accusations" about electrical work, the caller told police. The law was not broken as of Jan. 8, police said. The caller requested a report be made for informational purposes.
