Northport Police Blotter: Drunken Driver Runs From Police
The driver is accused of hitting a tree before trying to run away from a police officer, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Nov. 8 through Nov. 14.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Thomas Golde, 25, of East Northport, was driving a 2015 Ram pickup westbound on Fort Salonga Road around 2 a.m. Nov. 13 when he crossed over the solid white shoulder marking and made an improper left turn onto southbound Catherine Street, police said. Golde then struck a tree on the shoulder of Catherine Street and continued south, police said. A police officer tried to stop Golde, but Golde continued southbound on Catherine Street before turning left onto eastbound Cayuga Avenue and stopping, police said. After a foot chase, police apprehended Golde, police said. Golde's breath smelled of alcohol, his speech was slurred, and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, police said. Golde was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an incident, unsafe lane change, improper left turn, and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Richard Wuestman, 55, of Huntington Station, was driving a 1988 Honda on Scudder Avenue around 12:45 a.m. Nov. 14 when he crossed over the double-yellow line several times, police said. Police stopped Wuestman, police said. Wuestman's breath smelled of alcohol, his speech was slurred, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, he was very unsteady on his feet, and he performed poorly on several standardized field sobriety tests, police said. Wuestman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated: BAC reading, driving while intoxicated and unsafe lane change.
Incidents
- Someone left the scene of a car collision on Waterside Avenue on Nov. 8.
- A man was banned from Northport Fish & Lobster on Nov. 8. A trespass affidavit was filed.
- A man's kayak was reported stolen at Scudder Park on Nov. 13.
- Trees were reported in the road at Fort Salonga Road, Nautilus Avenue and Douglas Avenue on Nov. 13.
- A rabbit running in circles in the middle of Main Street was relocated to a safe area by police on Nov. 13.
- An injured deer ran through multiple yards and into the woods after being spotted on Mar-Kan Drive on Nov. 14.
