Northport Police Blotter: Injured Hawk Found In Driveway

ALSO: A car collision, a kitchen fire, and more.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Jan. 9 through Jan. 15.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A summons was issued to a 2007 Honda parked in a no-parking zone at Little Sprouts By The Sea on Jan. 9.
  • Someone drove a car into a pole on Waterside Avenue and fled on Jan. 9. Police could not find the driver.
  • An unleashed dog was found near Franklin Street and returned to its owner on Jan. 10.
  • Possible sparks were reported on a boat near Municipal Lot #2 on Jan. 12. Police determined what looked like sparks was actually the dock lights reflecting in the windows of the boat.
  • A kitchen fire was reported on Madison Street on Jan. 12. Police brought a plate of burning food out of the house and to the yard before the home was damaged.
  • Debris was cleared from Fort Salonga Road on Jan. 13.
  • Two cars collided on Fort Salonga Road on Jan. 13. No one was injured, police said.
  • A delivery vehicle was stuck at the intersection of Woodbine Avenue and Fox Lane on Jan. 13. The Northport Highway Department helped free the vehicle.
  • An oil burner caused a fire on Fort Salonga Road on Jan. 14. Northport police remained until the Northport Fire Department and Suffolk police arrived.
  • An injured hawk was found in a Harborview Drive driveway on Jan. 15. The bird was retrieved by Wildlife In Need.
