Northport Police Blotter: Loose Dogs, Dropped Credit Cards

Two dogs got loose in Northport, and officers couldn't find them. Also, a lost credit card and Citi Visa card were turned into police HQ.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from Oct. 28 to Nov. 3.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Amanda Ferrer, 26, of Mount Sinai, was arrested at Chalet Motor Inn after a police investigated a damaged fence and broken vehicle parts found at Steers Beach, police said. She was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident on Oct. 30.
  • Amanda Calderon, 26, of Central Islip, made an unsafe lane change on Fort Salonga Road while driving with a license that had been suspended more than once, police said. There was also an active warrant for her arrest, police said. She was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation: three or more suspensions, failure to appear and unsafe lane change.

Incidents

  • A man overdosed and was unconscious on Soper Avenue. Officers administered two doses of Narcan and watched over him until Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital. The incident happened at 1:07 a.m. on Oct. 29.
  • Police responded to a report of a fisherman yelling for help while using a flashlight to search the water, as his dog fell into Northport Harbor. The dog was rescued and back on board. The incident happened 1:58 a.m. on Oct. 30.
  • A Boston Terrier puppy got loose on Steers Avenue on Oct. 30 at 11:47 a.m., though police couldn't find the puppy.
  • A tree went down on Bayview Avenue with electrical wires sparking. Northport Fire came and stayed until the sparking went out. PSEG went to the street and helped out. The tree damaged four legally-parked cars, a garage, a fence and the roadway. The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 1.
  • A dog got loose on Main Street, though police couldn't find the dog. The incident happened around 7 p.m. on Nov. 1.
  • A lost credit card was found in the parking lot of 469 Fort Salonga Road, though police couldn't reach the owner. The card was placed in a temporary bin. The card was found 1:19 p.m. on Nov. 2.
  • A Citi Visa card was found in Municipal Lot #2 of Woodbine Avenue, though police couldn't reach the owner. The card was placed in a temporary bin. The card was found around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 2.
