Northport Police Blotter: Man Accused Of Heroin Possession

ALSO: A dog was hit and killed in a car crash, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police reports for the Northport Village area from Feb. 17 through Feb. 23.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • William Yee, 22, of Northport, was seen in the front passenger seat of a Ford on Main Street and was known by the officer to have an active warrant from First District Court, police said. Police arrested Yee and found a hypodermic needle in his right pants pocket, they say. Yee's explanation was "it was old," police said. During a more thorough search at police headquarters, Yee admitted he had two small bags of heroin, and he retrieved them from his underwear, police said. He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to return March 2 to Northport Village Court. Suffolk Police responded and placed Yee in custody for the active warrant, police said. Yee was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument on Feb. 23.

Incidents

  • Police responded to Mar-Kan Drive for a report of a suspicious man at the front door. The officer spoke with the man, who said he was trying to leave his information to give to the neighbor about selling her house. The man agreed to leave the property and not return. The incident happened Feb. 17.
  • Police responded to Main Street for a report of a woman sleeping. She was waiting for her daughter to finish a doctor's appointment. The incident happened Feb. 17.
  • Police responded to Church Street for a report of a dog bite. A man said he was running on the sidewalk when a dog being walked behind him bit him. The dog's owner said she was walking multiple dogs, and one of them bit the man's thigh. Both parties already spoke with a veterinarian in St. James who was going to email the dog's vaccination records to the man. The man said he was going to go to an urgent care facility and declined medical assistance at the scene. The incident happened Feb. 20.
  • A car crashed into a dog on James Street. The dog was confirmed dead at the scene and brought to police headquarters on Feb. 22.
