Northport Police Blotter: Man Charged With DWI
The man is accused of refusing a breath test and other sobriety tests, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Dec. 6 through Dec. 12.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Shaun Malone, 55, of Northport, was driving a 2018 Jeep southbound on Woodbine Avenue when he crossed over the double-yellow line several times around 2 a.m. Dec. 12, police said. Police smelled alcohol on Malone's breath, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, his speech was slurred, he was unsteady on his feet, and he performed poorly on a few standardized field sobriety tests, police said. Malone refused to finish midway through one of the field sobriety tests, police said. Malone refused to perform any other tests and was then arrested and brought to Northport police headquarters, where he refused a breath test, police said. Malone was charged with driving while intoxicated, refuse a pre-screen test, and unsafe lane change.
Incidents
- An Amazon truck got stuck on Norwood Avenue on Dec. 8. By the time police arrived, the driver had called for a tow truck. Police remained until the truck was removed.
- A woman reported on Dec. 9 that her next-door neighbor has landscapers who were blowing leaves onto her lawn. Police spoke with the landscaper, who said he would be more careful in blowing the leaves and will clean up any leaves that mistakenly blow onto her lawn.
- A man reported on Dec. 9 that he saw a man through his Ring camera knocking on his door and possibly tampering with his front door handle. Police found a holiday card lodged into the front door handle from the local sanitation company.
- Police went to CVS on Fort Salonga Road to settle an argument on Dec. 10. An employee said a woman became irate after having to wait for her prescription and called the employee names. The employee told the woman that the prescription would be transferred to the drug store of her choice but CVS would no longer fill her prescriptions. The woman stated that the employee would not give her the prescriptions and she needed them immediately. The employee agreed to give the prescriptions they were able to fill to the woman, but the employee filled out a trespass affidavit, banning the woman from the CVS. Police told the woman about her being banned from the CVS.
- A Doris Court house was egged sometime before Dec. 11. A woman said she found broken eggs on the roof, siding and porch of her house. Police suggested using some hot water and soap to wash away the egg.
- Police found two people who said they were trying to get home from Main Street just after midnight on Dec. 12. Both people were heavily intoxicated, the officer said. The man told the officer he planned on driving home. Police told the man he was in no condition to drive and advised him to call an Uber home, to which the man agreed.
