Northport Police Blotter: Man Charged With DWI
ALSO: Hawk attacks, a silverware theft reported at Salted. On The Harbor, and more, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from June 27 through July 3.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Luis Bonilla, 26, of East Northport, was driving a 2006 Toyota eastbound on Fort Salonga Road and speeding with only one operating tail light around 11:45 p.m. June 30, police said. Bonilla crossed over the solid double-yellow lane marker, police said. Police stopped Bonilla, whose breath smelled of alcohol, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, he was unsteady on his feet and he performed poorly on several standardized field sobriety tests, police said. Bonilla was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated: BAC reading, unsafe lane change, equipment: rear lights, speeding: posted zone, and no/expired inspection certificate.
Incidents
- An object was thrown at a Stanton Street homeowner's front door on June 28. The homeowner told police that someone walked up to their stoop, knocked on the
glass window next to the door and then threw and left an unmarked mooring ball at their front door. No property was damaged. - A pick-up truck was parked over the lines at Municipal Lot #1 on June 28. The person who called police said the pick-up truck driver became "irate" when he asked him to re-park
his truck correctly. Police spoke with the truck driver, who agreed to leave. - A man said he was jogging past the churches on Main Street when a hawk swooped
down and struck him in the back of the head on June 29. The man had no visual injuries and said he had no pain or injuries and just wanted the incident documented. - A person on June 29 reported a laptop and iPad were stolen.
- Summons were issued to the drivers of two vehicles parked illegally at Trinity Episcopal Church on June 29. They had parked in permit-only spots without having permits.
- A woman said she was attacked by a hawk on Main Street on June 29. She declined medical attention.
- Multiple place settings were stolen from Salted. On The Harbor on June 30. Napkins, forks, and knives were stolen from the restaurant.
- Police warned and admonished a man who followed a girl to her parent's home after a road rage incident on June 30. The man said his vehicle was almost struck and he was upset.
- A woman fainted at Bistro 44 on July 1. She was brought to Huntington Hospital.
- Police asked an Ocean Avenue resident to lower the music at a loud party on July 2.
- The owner of a vehicle that was not up to date on its inspection was issued a ticket on July 3.
