Northport Police Blotter: Man Drove On Beach; Car Stuck In Sand

ALSO: A man was reportedly driving recklessly and tried to drive another man off the road while cursing at him, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from May 29 through June 4.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Two possibly intoxicated people were found stumbling on Main Street around 2:15 p.m. May 29. Police helped them get an Uber home.
  • A woman fainted at Northport Yacht Club on May 29. Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hospital.
  • A vehicle got stuck in sand at Scudder Park on May 31. A tow truck was called, and the vehicle was freed from the sand without damage.
  • An unregistered vehicle was parked on the side of Stanton Street for several months. Police could not contact the owner and issued a summons on June 1.
  • A BBQ grill was on fire on Oak Street on June 1. The fire was extinguished, and Northport firefighters cleared the area.
  • A Norwood Avenue woman told police she got into an argument with a contractor on June 2. The woman said the argument was because a business removed a temporary hot water heater from her home without her acknowledgement. The woman said the business has done damage to her house during construction work and has had multiple incidents with the company. Police told the woman it is a civil matter.
  • Someone handed moon rocks over to the police on June 2.
  • A dog was loose on an Oak Street driveway on June 3. The caller said the dog had no tags and could not find its owner. Police brought the dog to the Northshore Veterinarian.
  • A man was arrested after he drove a vehicle on Steers Beach on June 3.
  • A male told police his parent's vehicle was stolen on June 3 from the parking lot of Giunta's Meat Farm. The parents were contacted and said they had the vehicle and their son was mistaken. The male was given a ride to his house and left with his parents.
  • A summons was issued to a vehicle parked illegally in the resident-only Municipal Lot #9 on June 4.
  • Two summonses were issued to illegally parked vehicles on Fifth Avenue on June 4.
  • Police were called to Main Street for a road rage incident on June 4. A witness pointed out a vehicle that was leaving the area. An officer was familiar with the driver operating the vehicle. The witness told police that the man was driving reckless, attempting to force another driver off the road. The witness said the man got out of his car twice and began cursing at the driver. Police could not find the man who yelled the obscenities.
  • A man found bones at Scudder Park on June 4. Police told him they were fish bones.
