Northport Police Blotter: Man Exposes Himself At Irish Pub

Recent arrests and incidents in the Northport Village area, including a man exposing himself at Napper Tandy's: Northport Police.

NORTHPORT, NY—Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from June 24 through June 30.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.

  • Richard Benanti, 31, of St. James, allegedly exposed himself at Napper Tandy's Irish Pub on Laurel Avenue. The woman who was bartending said Benanti entered the pub and appeared really drunk and/or on drugs, and then became loud and aggressive towards the security guard, police said. She asked Benanti to leave Napper Tandy's, which caused him to yell obscenities at her and the customers, police said. Benanti left, but allegedly dropped his pants and exposed himself to her and the security guard as he was standing in the parking lot. Police found Benanti on Fort Salonga Road, who was clenching his fists and lunged towards them, the officers say. Benanti was then tased. He was arrested and charged with public lewdness and third-degree menacing. The incident occurred around 1:18 a.m. on June 30.
  • Alexa Eadie, 27, of East Northport, was arrested on an active NPVJ Arrest Warrant (#45-18). She was charged with failure to appear on June 24.
  • David Barrett, 38, of East Northport, was arrested on an active NPVJ Arrest Warrant (#70-16). He was charged with failure to pay a fine on June 24.
  • Thomas Gesuale, 62, of Northport, was arrested on an active NPVJ Arrest Warrant (#19-19). He was charged with failure to appear on June 25.
  • Arthur Williams, 49, of Northport, allegedly was involved in a domestic incident. He was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal mischief on June 26.

Incidents

  • Shots were reportedly fired at a house on Martin Place. Northport Police canvassed the area, which came up unfounded, and remained until sufficient SCPD units arrived. The incident happened June 24.
  • Police responded to a house on Fifth Avenue on a reported domestic incident. Police determined both parties had a verbal fight, and no crime or violation was observed or reported on June 24.
  • There was an odor of natural gas in the street on McKinney Avenue, and police notified National Grid on June 24.
  • There was a report of property damage on Woodhull Place on June 24.
  • Police responded to The Purple Elephant for reports of a suspicious man using several Visa gift cards to pay for his check, though the complainant filed the report for police purposes only on June 24.
  • An oven fire happened on Doris Avenue and was contained to the oven and extinguished by the Northport Fire Department on June 25.
  • A fire alarm went off at Laurel Avenue School which was triggered by workers performing construction on the building on June 25.
  • A car was parked on the sidewalk at Church Street, and the driver was issued the appropriate summons on June 25.
  • A man suffered an adverse reaction to medicine at Snug Harbor and was transported to Huntington Hospital on June 26.
  • Construction noise at the Harbour Point Pump Station on Harbour Point Drive was reported. Police responded, and it was the Northport Highway Department making repairs to the sewer line. The incident happened on June 27 around 7:30 a.m.
  • Construction noise on Highland Avenue was reported. Police responded, and it was the Northport Highway Department making repairs to the sidewalk. The incident happened on June 27 around 7:39 a.m.
  • Police and a resident on Woodbine Avenue removed a low-hanging wire across the roadway on June 27.
  • A brush fire broke out and was extinguished on Ward Avenue on June 27.
  • A woman on Vail Street notified police of a "suspicious subject" at her door who was claiming to be PSEG. Police found the man in his vehicle and confirmed him to be a representative from National Grid. The incident happened on June 27.
  • A bus was stuck on Bayview Avenue, so police helped the driver navigate the turn and free the bus from the road on June 27.
  • A woman fainted at Village Park and was transported to Huntington Hospital on June 27.
  • A sick woman at Bistro 44 was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 27.
  • A man suffered injuries after tripping on his cane at the CVS Pharmacy on Fort Salonga Road, but declined medical treatment on June 27.
  • Three males were reportedly drowning at Crab Meadow Beach, so Northport Police remained on the scene until Suffolk Police arrived. The incident happened on June 27.
  • A child had an allergic reaction to peanuts and was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 27.
  • Loud music was being played at Chestnut Circle, so police spoke with the resident who agreed to turn the music down. The incident happened on June 27.
  • A man found a bicycle at Northport Library, which he said had been there for a few days. Since the bike was rusted and had a damaged wheel, chain, derailleur and a missing seat, police got rid of it. The incident happened on June 28.
  • A car was blocking a driveway on Main Street, so police issued a parking summons and the car was moved on June 28.
  • A wallet containing $11 and various cards was found in Village Park, and police left the owner a message to pick it up on June 29.
  • A tractor trailer was driving on Bayview Avenue. After speaking with police, the driver agreed to take a different route for future deliveries. The incident happened on June 29.
  • Police responded to Chestnut Circle after a call for assistance, but the resident called police on accident. The incident happened on June 29.
  • Boaters just outside channel in Northport Harbor flagged down an officer on patrol as they were out of gas. They were towed to Seymour's Boatyard. The incident happened on June 29.
  • Police responded to Northport Library on reports of a disoriented man. Police determined the man wasn't disoriented, and he agreed to leave. The incident happened on June 29.
  • A loose boat hit a Bayview Avenue resident's bulkhead, and the boat's owner said he'd remove the boat. The incident happened on June 29.
  • A large tree fell into a Vail Street resident's backyard, destroying a wooden swing set. The tree was resting against the side of the house and roof. The owner was advised to contact her
    homeowners insurance and a tree removal company. The incident happened on June 30.
  • A meter was reportedly sparking at a house on Chestnut Circle due to a large tree that fell and took the meter off the house. The meter was no longer sparking when police arrived. The incident happened on June 30.
  • A tree and wires were down on Northwest Drive, which led the Highway Department to set up cones as a precaution on June 30.
  • Police received a report of wires down on a car at Printing House Circle. Upon arrival, police noticed a tree that fell, bringing down the wires on top of the car. PSEG was notified. The incident happened on June 30.
  • A tree branch fell on wires on Norwood Avenue, so police notified PSEG on June 30.
  • A tree fell and blocked the road on Woodbine Avenue, which led to police putting out cones, flares and caution tape to alert drivers. The incident happened on June 30.
