Northport Police Blotter: Man Falls Off Retaining Wall
ALSO: A boat trailer detached from a car in traffic, and officers tried to settle a couple of arguments, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from April 10 through April 16.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A woman reported her mailbox missing from her Burr Avenue rental property on April 12. She believes it went missing on April 5.
- A summons was issued to a driver who parked in a school drop-off zone at Little Sprouts By The Sea on April 13. The vehicle was moved immediately after police contacted the driver.
- A summons was issued to a driver who parked in a spot without a permit at Trinity Episcopal Church on April 13.
- Someone left the scene of a Woodbine Avenue crash around 7:20 p.m. April 13.
- A dog owner was warned and admonished after they left their barking dog outside on Jefferson Avenue around 8:20 p.m. April 13.
- Police responded to a Terry Road home on April 14 for a report of a strange odor. The resident said it could possibly be a dead animal under the deck or in the yard, but the officer was unable to find the source. Police told the resident to contact an exterminator if the smell got worse.
- A summons was issued to a driver who parked in a spot without a permit at Trinity Episcopal Church on April 14.
- A Washington Place woman on April 14 reported an argument she had with landscapers working on her neighbor's property. The woman said landscapers were walking through her yard and stepped on multiple small shrubs while cleaning up the neighbor's yard. She said when she confronted them about it, an argument ensued. The landscapers left without further incident. The woman wanted to document the argument for informational purposes. The officer offered to speak with the neighbor about their landscapers entering the complainant's property, but the woman declined.
- A boat trailer detached from a vehicle and blocked traffic on Waterside Avenue on April 14. The driver told police that the pin was missing on the trailer hitch and he was waiting for his friend to bring him one. The driver was able to attach the trailer back to the vehicle and left the area.
- Police tried to help settle an ongoing argument between two neighbors. A man said he was trying to back his vehicle out of a parking space in Municipal Lot #1 when his neighbor stood in the back of his vehicle, not allowing him and his brother to leave The man said he asked his neighbor to move, who responded, "it's a public space." The man said there was an ongoing issue between them. Police spoke with the neighbor, who said he actually walked up to the vehicle to ask his neighbors if they can stop banging the floor so he and his wife could put their baby to sleep, nothing more.
- A man fell off a 10-foot retaining wall into a wooded area down hill on Hillside Avenue on April 15. Poor weather did not allow an airlift rescue, so Northport Rescue brought the man to Stony Brook Hospital.
- A fire broke out in a microwave on Mar-Kan Drive on April 16.
