Northport Police Blotter: Dead Hawk, Cat, Raccoon Found
ALSO: Heavy rain causes road issues, and a man suffered injuries after falling through a roof, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Sept. 25 through Oct. 1.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A sick raccoon was euthanized by police on Franklin Street and disposed of on Sept. 25.
- A man fell through a roof at Britannia Yachting Center and suffered injuries on Sept. 28. Northport Rescue brought him to Stony Brook University Hospital.
- A man lost consciousness at Main Street Cafe on Sept. 28. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
- Police were called to Lisa Drive for a report of an injured hawk in the road on Sept. 29. The hawk was dead by the time police got there. Officers removed the bird.
- A large tree fell on Sept. 29, blocking Milland Drive. Traffic cones were placed around the tree, and the Northport Highway Department was asked to remove it.
- Waterside Avenue was flooded because of the heavy rain on Sept. 29. A car got stalled in the water, and police deemed the road impassable. Police remained until the driver safely exited her car and the road was blocked off with traffic cones. The car owner contacted a tow truck to remove her car.
- A dead cat was found on Church Street on Oct. 1. The cat did not have a collar. The woman who found it said she would take the cat to the shelter to see if it was chipped and post a photo of it online.
- Someone on Oct. 1 told police he lost his phone during a football game at Harborfields High School and tracked it to Okleigh Place. The finder, a coach who was at the same football game, was asked if he had found a cellphone. The coach had found it while cleaning the field and had been trying to find the phone's owner through the team's email chain. He handed the phone to its owner.
- A vehicle was issued a summons for parking illegally on School Street on Oct. 1.
