Northport Police Blotter: Man Involved In Hit And Run DWI
Recent arrests and incidents in the Northport Village area, including a hit and run DWI, as well as a woman possessing heroin: Northport PD.
NORTHPORT, NY—Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from June 17 through June 23.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.

- Keith Rogers, 46, of Northport, allegedly was involved in a hit and run with property damage on June 20 just past midnight. Police spoke with the victim, who said a grey Ford pickup truck hit her car and drove away without stopping. While the officer was speaking with the woman, Rogers allegedly pulled into a parking space nearby, and the listed witness and victim told the officer that it was the same driver and car from the hit and run. Police say Rogers' breath smelled of alcohol, and he performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Rogers was arrested and charged with a DWI, leaving the scene of an incident, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unsafe lane change, equipment tinted windows, unsafe backing, and consumption of alcoholic beverages. He was arraigned before Northport Village Justice.
- Christina Thompson, 32, of Northport, allegedly possessed heroin. On June 21 around 6:44 a.m., Thompson was seen standing next to a 2018 Ford that was allegedly parked illegally. The officer, while speaking to Thompson, saw a wax heroin baggie on the Ford's dashboard. The officer found several other empty wax baggies in the center console of the car and a glass pipe and several wax baggies with a white powder in her left sweater pocket. She was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

- A woman who sustained injuries from a fall was transported to Huntington Hospital on June 17.
- A woman found a squid in her mailbox on June 17, and filed a report for informational purposes only.
- Police responded to Fort Salonga Road for a reported domestic dispute and found the person yelling at the woman who called police while she was in her car. The person kicked the woman's car, but no damage occurred. The dispute was verbal, and both parties agreed to go their separate ways. The incident happened on June 17.
- A sick woman was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 17.
- A woman who sustained injuries from a fall was transported to Huntington Hospital on June 17.
- Police responded to a report of a suspicious man wearing sunglasses and neon socks in the
middle of the road at Willis Street. The man said he was waiting for his daughter to get off the bus from school. The incident happened on June 18. - A woman who sustained injuries from a fall was transported to Huntington Hospital on June 18.
- A car crashed into a tree on Waterside Road on June 18.
- A sick woman was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 19.
- A man was reportedly having a stroke and was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 19.
- A broken car window was caused by a Northport Village Highway landscaping operation on June Avenue. A property damage report was completed to document the incident and a copy was forwarded to the Village Administrator. The incident happened on June 19.
- A sick man was brought to Northport VAMC on June 19.
- Police responded to Scudder Park on Beach Avenue after a man was reportedly playing basketball on the roof of Building 7 by the sewer plant. The man said he was on the roof to retrieve the ball, and police told him not to go on the roof again. The incident happened on June 19.
- A man was having a psychological emergency and was brought to the VA Hospital on June 19.
- Someone let their dog go without a leash at Steers Park, and were warned and admonished by an officer regarding the the village ordinances against dogs in the park in addition to not having a leash. The incident happened on June 20.
- Photos of underage drinkers at Sand City Brewing were being posted on social media. Police told the owner he needs to properly identify customers. No sign of underage drinkers was present when police visited. The incident happened on June 20.
- A woman's feeding tube fell out on Franklin Street, and she was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 20.
- A transformer fire occurred at a residence on Norwood Avenue, but had already been extinguished when police arrived. Northport Fire responded and shut the power to the house. PSEG was notified. The incident happened on June 20.
- Police responded to a report that a man was asleep in a car on Scudder Avenue, but by the time police arrived, the caller said it appeared the man was picked up by a friend. The incident happened on June 20.
- Northport Police responded to the Village Dock to aid the Suffolk County Police Department in finding a possibly suicidal man. While Northport police searched the dock, the SCPD notified them that the man had returned to his home in Huntington. The incident happened on June 21.
- A man visited police headquarters on June 22 to report his mother was missing, and that he hadn't heard from her since they spoke on the phone on June 19. He had been unable to contact his mother since, and her phone had been off since they last spoke. Police spoke with the mother and verified that she was fine and not in need of any help.
- A missing passport was reported at Jones Drug Store which was returned to the owner on June 22.
- Police responded to Bluff Point Road on a report that cars were possibly illegally parked. The officer noticed numerous cars parked on the road near the Northport Yacht Club. The officer spoke to a member of the yacht club and was told about flooding in the yacht club parking lot. The member was asked to tell his fellow club members to move their cars to spots in the lot that are unaffected by the water. The incident happened on June 22.
- A domestic dispute occurred on Laurel Avenue on June 22.
- A dog was barking for hours at a home on Bayview Avenue. When police arrived, the dog was barking inside the home, and attempts to reach the homeowner were unsuccessful. The incident happened on June 22.
- A sick woman was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 22.
- Criminal mischief occurred on Waterside Avenue on June 22.
- A man was reportedly peeing on steps of a building on Main Street, but police couldn't find him. The incident happened on June 22.
- Police responded to a home on Laurel Avenue for a reported domestic dispute. The man who called 911 said his girlfriend accused him of cheating on her with another girl. The girlfriend removed her belongings and left their house without further incident. The incident happened on June 23.
- A woman was knocking on a door and ringing the bell of a home on Lisa Drive. Police found the woman, who appeared lost. Due to a language barrier, the woman couldn't communicate where she was trying to go. The officer eventually found the residence the woman wanted to visit her sister at, and she was reunited with her family. The incident happened on June 23.
- A parked truck was blocking part of the road on James Street. The truck owner agreed to move the truck. The incident happened on June 23.
- A woman walked into headquarters to tell police she had a verbal fight with her friend on a boat at the Village Dock on June 23.
- Police tried to help a disoriented man find his family. They eventually brought him home and left him in the care of his next door neighbor. The man's wife was found downtown and told that her husband was safe at home. The incident happened on June 23.
- Police responded to Fifth Avenue for reports of a verbal dispute. The man who called police said his girlfriend's daughter was arguing with him, trying to chase him out of the house and threw a cup of tea at him, but missed. He wants the daughter to move out of the house because he's starting to fear her. Police told the man to respond to family court to obtain a restraining order against her. The incident happened on June 23.
