Northport Police Blotter: Man Keyed & Damaged 2 Cars
The man was arrested and charged, police say. ALSO: A woman and someone else damaged her neighbor's home security camera, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 9 through March 15.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- John Black, 61, of Kings Park, confessed he keyed a silver BMW Z4 with an estimated damage of $250 on Feb. 29, and he did the same to a Mercedes Benz causing damage of $1,000, police said. Black was arrested and charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief: intended damages to property on March 10. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled back in court March 23.
- Elias Lobos, 39, of Bay Shore, drove while drunk on Fort Salonga Road around 3:30 a.m. March 11, police said. He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (an E felony), operating unregistered motor vehicle on highway, no/expired inspection certificate and driving while intoxicated: BAC reading (an E felony).
- Samantha Heydt, 23, of Northport, damaged her neighbor's security camera, police said. The neighbor said he received an email at 1:44 a.m. March 14 that his camera, which is in the
common area of his apartment that looks at his door, went offline, police said. When he watched the footage leading up to the outage, he saw his two neighbors hitting the camera and then pulling it down, police said. The man said he knows one of the neighbors as "Sam" and wanted to pursue charges, police said. The listed neighbors have mail addressed to them, police said. The neighbor emailed the video footage to be uploaded to the case, police said. An affidavit was uploaded, and the neighbor made a statement, police said. Heydt was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief: intended damages to property on March 14.
Incidents
- A woman reported a possible stalking incident. She said while she was dropping her son off at school one morning, she noticed a black Audi behind her car. She added she saw the same Audi driving behind her on the highway at an earlier date. The woman made the report for informational purposes on March 9.
- A couple went to police headquarters to file a report for possible fraud. The man's wife said she returned home 2 p.m. March 9 and saw her husband on the phone with a woman who said her name was Katherine Jones. The woman was asking the man for his social security. The woman said she believes her husband only provided "Jones" with the social security number and nothing else. The report was made for informational purposes for the time being, pending any more incidents in the future. The officer told the family to call the major credit bureaus and have them monitor any activity associated with the husband's social security number. The incident happened March 9.
- A large dog got loose on Main Street. Officers were unable to reach the resident. The dog came out to the sidewalk but stopped short of an electric fence. The incident happened March 10.
- A man did not clean up his German shepherd's feces in Scudder Beach. The dog owner was warned and admonished by police on March 11.
- A man went into headquarters to tell police that while he was securing Trinity Episcopal Church before 10:20 p.m. March 11, he found an unknown white man in his mid-to-late 20s with fair skin and reddish hair hiding in the stairwell. The man admitted to sleeping in the church the night before and planned on staying that night, too. The church staff member determined the man entered through a back door that was broken before the incident happened. The church staffer asked the man to leave the church, which he did without further issue. The man found an unlocked side door the next day, but did not find anyone in the church.
- A dog was outside a home on Fifth Avenue barking for hours, and the homeowner agreed to bring the dog in. The incident happened March 11.
- A man went to police headquarters to tell officers his son admitted to stealing his medicine on March 12.
- Police responded to Seaview Terrace for a report of a suspicious man in an SUV. While police searched the area, the SUV driver went to headquarters to report while on his way home, the caller approached his SUV and yelled at him. He drove off to avoid any further incident and filed the report for informational purposes. The incident happened March 12.
- A pair of men with flashlights were walking around Ocean Avenue School and peeking into windows, but police couldn't find the men. The incident happened March 13.
- Police responded to The Wine Cellar On Main for a report of a male customer arguing with the bartender. When police arrived, the business owner said the man and bartender argued over a spilled drink. The man said he overreacted to the bartender spilling his wife's drink and left the wine bar. The incident happened March 13.
- Police responded to Chestnut Circle for a report of kids going from door to door. It turned out to be the Long Island Youth Club conducting a fundraiser, and they had a valid permit. The incident happened March 14.
- A "suspicious man" was standing in front of a jewelry store on Main Street, but it turned out he was waiting for his daughter to come out of therapy. The incident happened March 14.
- Police went to Whales Tale bar to check on children who were reported at the bar and in the care of a drunk man and woman. Child Protective Services contacted police with an anonymous tip. The manager said around three hours ago, a couple of families came in with children and they had a drink at the bar while waiting for a table. The manager said the people were not drunk and had left by the time officers arrived. CPS was updated. The incident happened March 14.
- Police responded to Main Street for a report of a stolen car. When police arrived, the man told them he called his sister who said she picked up the car and brought it to a friend's house. The incident happened March 15.
- A drunk man with a head injury was laying in the middle of the street on Woodside Avenue. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital. The incident happened March 15.
