Northport Police Blotter: Man Possessed Heroin And Needle

Recent arrests and incidents in the Northport Village area, including a man in possession of heroin and a man arrested for a DWI: police.

NORTHPORT, NY—Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from June 10 through June 16.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.

  • Thomas Henneborn, 38, of Northport, was arrested at his home regarding an NPVJ warrant. Police found a hypodermic needle with a liquid residue and a bag of brown powder in Henneborn's left pants pocket, which Henneborn said was heroin. Henneborn was brought back to the police station, and police confirmed the brown powder to be heroin weighing 1.8 grams. Henneborn was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and failure to appear. He was arraigned, his bail was set at $2,000 cash and he was transported to Riverhead Jail. The incident happened June 10.
  • August Carbone, 56, of Northport, allegedly drove his 2016 Dodge into the middle of Locust Road over the double yellow line, traveling directly towards a police car. The officer had to swerve off the road and stop short to avoid a collision with Carbone. Police say Carbone's breath reeked of alcohol, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot and his speech was slurred and
    sluggish. Carbone allegedly performed badly on the field sobriety tests. He was arrested and charged with a DWI, a DWI BAC reading and an unsafe lane change on June 11.
  • Heather Ginsburg, 43, of East Setauket, was transported by Suffolk Police to Northport Headquarters for NPVJ warrant #56-18. She allegedly failed to pay a fine, and was arrested and charged.

Incidents

  • A woman was reportedly laying on the ground near the road at Main Street, but police couldn't find her when they arrived. The incident happened June 10.
  • A "suspicious" man was reportedly sleeping in his car on Stone Court, but police couldn't find the car or the man when they arrived. The incident happened June 10.
  • A man went to police headquarters to report that he was involved in a hit and run accident on Fort Salonga Road on June 9, a day prior to his report. The man said a green pickup truck pulled out of a parking lot, sideswiped his bumper and left the scene, but he didn't have time to report the incident that day. He was given a civilian accident report to fill out on his own. The incident happened on June 10.
  • Someone possibly entered another person's car on Burt Avenue, but police didn't find anyone in the area and nothing in the car appeared to be stolen or tampered with. The incident happened on June 10.
  • A 2019 Nissan was parked in a permit only parking lot without a permit at Union Place, and an appropriate summons was issued on June 11.
  • A boat was floating away at Northport Bay, and the Town of Huntington Harbor Master office was contacted to retrieve and secure the boat on June 11.
  • Two neighbors were having an argument on Highland Avenue. The person who contacted police said he spoke with a detective about previous issues he's had with his neighbor and wanted to report new issues since that time. The man said a delivery truck arrived and his neighbor came out talking on the phone and stared at him aggressively, and then walked around the side of the house to watch him and his fiancé. The officer told the man a report would be taken for information only, then told the neighbor to stop the alleged actions, or harassment charges could possibly be filed. The incident happened on June 11.
  • A woman entered police headquarters to report her missing driver's license, which she mailed to the Social Security office and hasn't received it back. Attempts to contact the office have gone unreturned. The incident happened on June 11.
  • A 2010 Mercedes Benz was not parked in a marked space on Woodside Avenue, and the owner was issued an appropriate warning summons on June 11.
  • A boy fell while riding his bike on Main Street, and was brought to Huntington Hospital for injuries to his wrist on June 12.
  • A sick man was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 12.
  • A sick man was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 12.
  • A woman reported being involved in a car crash on Woodbine Avenue. She told police she was traveling north in her 2000 Honda when she struck the driver side mirror of a 2005 Mercury. Police attempted to contact the Mercury's owner several times but to no avail, and left a note on the car to contact them. The incident happened on June 12.
  • Police got notified of a potential drunk driver on Fort Salonga Road, but the man didn't appear to be drunk and said he was just returning home from the store on June 12.
  • A disabled car driver was blocking traffic on Main Street, so police assisted with traffic control until the car was moved to a safe location on June 12.
  • A dog was barking on Avenue B, and the owner agreed to bring the dog back inside when police responded. The incident happened on June 13.
  • Loud construction was being done on Bluff Point Road around 7:40 a.m., so police told workers not to start working before 8 a.m. The incident happened on June 13.
  • A sick woman was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 13.
  • A car was left parked for several months on Fox Lane, and police issued an appropriate summons on June 13.
  • A man with leg pain was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 13.
  • A car was doing doughnuts in the parking lot of Scudder Park on Beach Avenue, and left the area before police arrived. The incident happened on June 14.
  • Kids were yelling on Fifth Avenue, and one of them agreed with police to move inside for the night on June 14.
  • Police found a loose dog on Fort Salonga Road and returned the dog to the listed owner on June 15.
  • A woman was having chest pains and transported to Huntington Hospital on June 15.
  • A car alarm was going off on Norwood Avenue because the owner said he put his keys in the washer machine on June 15.
  • A man who was having respiratory difficulty was transported to Huntington Hospital on June 15.
  • A police officer helped lift a person into bed on June Avenue on June 15.
  • A woman who was having a stroke at the Ritz Cafe was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 15.
  • A man with back pain was brought to Huntington Hospital on June 15.
  • Police responded to reports of a neighbor disturbance on Jay Court, but didn't hear any noise or see any bright lights upon arrival. The incident happened on June 15.
  • An unopened Amazon package was found on the side of the road at Main Street. The buyer picked their package up the next day. The initial incident happened on June 16.
  • A woman was choking, but had dislodged the piece of bread and was breathing normally when police arrived at Copenhagen Bakery. The incident happened on June 16.
  • An unresponsive woman was found on Church Street and brought to Huntington Hospital on June 16.
  • A drunk man refused to leave the Ritz Cafe, so police told him he was no longer allowed in or near the business. The man left without further incident. A trespass affidavit was completed by the listed complainant. The incident happened on June 16.
