Northport Police Blotter: Man Reports Possible Scam
The man reported the possible fraud to police when payments were sent from his account, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Jan. 3 through Jan. 9.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A man was given an appearance ticket after he was trespassing at Northport Fish & Lobster on Jan. 3, police said.
- A grand larceny was reported at The Whales Tale on Jan. 4.
- A man on Jan. 4 reported fraudulent activity on his bank account. He told police that on Dec. 12, he received messages from his phone that Chase Zelle payments were sent to unknown accounts. The man said on Dec. 12 that there were two payments sent from his personal account to "Gary Crable" — one for $1,100 and another for $750.30. The man said Chase had rejected the $1,100 payment as fraud but has not yet refunded him the $750.30 transfer. The man said he recontacted Chase in which they have since opened an investigation as to why the second payment was not refunded. The man wanted to document the incident as per Chase's request. Undersigned advised complainant to contact the three major credit bureaus to advise them of the fraud as well as all of his financial institutions and to recontact PD if Chase dose not refund him the money.
- A Jeep driver was warned and admonished by police for doing donuts in the parking lot of Scudder Park on Jan. 7.
- A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Laurel Road at 11:25 p.m. Jan. 7. Northport police remained until Suffolk police arrived.
