Northport Police Blotter: Man Steals Plants From Meat Farm

Recent arrests and some incidents in the Northport Village area, including a man stealing plants from Giunta's Meat Farm: Northport police.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent arrests and a few incidents from the Northport Village area, from July 8 through July 14.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All incidents are merely accusations, and those accused are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.

  • Zuzanna Stankiewicz, 23, of Manorville, surrendered herself on an active NVJC Warrant on July 8. She was arrested and charged with failure to appear.
  • Leone Harvey, 39, of Holbrook, surrendered herself on an active NVJC Warrant on July 9. She was arrested and charged with failure to appear.
  • Kevin Rooney, 52, of West Babylon, allegedly bail jumped on an active bench warrant for a crime that is older than 30 days. He was arrested and charged with third-degree bail jumping.
  • Fred Juliano, 83, of Centerport, took four potted plants from the display rack in front of Giunta's Meat Farm, placed them in his 2003 Ford and left without paying for them. Police went to Juliano's home, where he said "I didn't pay for the plants, I just left." Police found the four stolen plants in Juliano's driveway. The plants were returned to Giunta's. The incident happened on July 12 at 12:48 p.m.

Incidents

  • A drunk man was reportedly lying on Ocean Avenue, but it turns out he was just messing with his friend. The incident happened July 8.
  • A drunk man was locked in the bathroom. He wasn't listening to police commands, so police kicked the door in. The man was found in a semi-conscious state in the bathtub. He became uncooperative and had to be restrained with handcuffs. He was then transported to Huntington Hospital. The incident happened July 8.
  • An unconscious woman at U 2 Nail & Spa was transported to Huntington Hospital on July 12.
  • Police responded to a domestic incident on Fifth Avenue. A woman (the complainant) said she had a verbal argument with her daughter. Police interviewed both. The daughter is upset with her mother about custody issues regarding her baby daughter. The woman said she has a family court "refrain from" order of protection protecting her from her daughter, but after police read the order, it was determined that the verbal argument didn't violate the order. Both the woman and her daughter agreed to stay away from one another. The incident happened on July 12.
  • Someone left the scene of an accident on Main Street on July 12.
  • A person who was possibly drunk was sleeping in the grass of Municipal Lot #2 on Woodbine Avenue. They agreed to leave when police arrived. The incident happened on July 13.
  • Police responded to a domestic incident on Fifth Avenue. A woman had a question about her mother wanting to paint her apartment. Police spoke with the mother, who said she didn't know her daughter called the police. Both women agreed to stay away from one another. The incident happened on July 13.
  • An unconscious woman was found on her back on her backyard deck on Fifth Avenue while wearing a heart monitor. She slowly regained consciousness and then refused medical attention. The incident happened on July 14.
  • A kayaker with a history of asthma was in distress, with their kayak swamped. The kayaker was safely returned to Asharoken Beach. The incident happened on July 14.
  • There was a boat crash in Northport Harbor on July 14.
