Northport Police Blotter: Man Stole From Northport Vehicles

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Feb. 14 through Feb. 21.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

Arrest

• Jerell Deleon, 21, of Bay Shore, was accused of going through someone's vehicle around 3:25 p.m. Feb. 18, police said. Several other vehicles in the neighborhood were also recently broken into and had items stolen, police said. Deleon was arrested and charged with one count of fourth-degree grand larceny: exceeds $1,000, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and two counts of petty larceny.

Incidents

• A piece of machinery was on fire at Northport Library around 9:30 a.m. Feb. 14. Northport Fire Department cleared the building.
• A woman on Feb. 14 reported that someone opened a checking and savings account under her Bank Of America credit account on Feb. 12. The woman has not sustained any financial loss and she notified her bank.
• A woman refused to leave Verizon at Fort Salonga Road on Feb. 14. The woman told police she was refused service. She did not have the necessary documentation to access the requested account and she was asked to leave, to which she eventually agreed.
• A gold necklace was found on the sidewalk of Main Street around 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14. The finder turned the necklace in to police headquarters.
• An ATV driver was driving recklessly without any lights on around 8:45 p.m. Feb. 17 on Reservoir Avenue. The ATV got stuck in the woods between Prospect and June avenues. The driver was issued the appropriate summonses.
• A tree owned by Northport Village fell on a Jay Court home during a storm. The damage was reported around 8 a.m. Feb. 18. A neighbor reported the tree falling to police and told the homeowners what happened.
• A woman was suffering a cardiac arrest and was found unconscious and not breathing on Fort Salonga Road at 1:20 a.m. Feb. 20. Northport police officers administered two doses of Narcan and provided rescue breathing until the woman was eventually revived. Northport police waited for Suffolk police and Northport Rescue to arrive.
