Northport Police Blotter: Man W/ Dementia Enters Someone's Home
A homeowner was startled to find an elderly man with dementia had entered his house, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY —Check out some recent incidents from the Northport Village area, from Feb. 3 through Feb. 9.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Multiple cars were parked near the boat ramp at Malcolm's Landing. When an officer arrived, they noticed three occupied cars parked. A driver said he works for a company that landscapes the community and knew the access code to enter the property. The officer told everyone they were trespassing on private property and needed to leave, which they all did. The incident happened Feb. 7.
- A silver bracelet was found on Main Street on Feb. 8. The finder turned it in to police headquarters.
- Police responded to a Scudder Avenue home for a report of an unknown man in his house. The homeowner told the officer that an elderly man he didn't know walked into his home and seemed to be confused of his whereabouts. It was determined the man has dementia and is know to leave his residence. The officer returned the man to a relative. The incident happened Feb. 8.
- A man called police to say that unknown males were on his porch carrying beer. The boys had left by the time police arrived. The officer noticed a gathering at a neighbor's house, and believes the males mistakenly went to the wrong house. The incident happened Feb. 9.
