  • Tyler Cancro, 42, of Northport, jumped in front of a car being driven by a man southbound on Woodbine Avenue, just south of Beach Avenue, blocking the road, at 2 p.m. Sept. 27, police said. Cancro then smacked the passenger side mirror of the man's 2018 Ford F350, police said. The driver got out of his car to check if the side mirror was damaged, police said. Cancro then took a trailer hitch out of a red sports utility vehicle and began to approach the man while waving the hitch in the air in a threatening manner, police said. The man had a "reasonable fear of a serious physical injury," police said. The man defended himself by drawing a legally-possessed firearm and ordered Cancro to drop the hitch, police said. Cancro was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal tampering, second-degree menacing and disorderly conduct. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
