Northport Police Blotter: Man Went Through Woman's Car

ALSO: A deer was euthanized, a phone scam was reported, a sign theft was thwarted, and a catalytic converter was stolen, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Oct. 10 through Oct. 16.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Northport Rescue brought a dehydrated man to Huntington Hospital on Oct. 10.
  • A camper vehicle was left unattended on Woodside Avenue on Oct. 11. Police left a note on the camper saying it had to be moved within 24 hours or it would be towed.
  • The Northport Fire Department doused an oven fire at a Mar Kan Drive home on Oct. 11.
  • A man who fainted at Skippers Pub on Oct. 11 was taken to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.
  • A summons was issued to the owner of a boat trailer that was parked on Milland Drive without being attached to a vehicle. The incident was reported on Oct. 13.
  • Missing Halloween decorations were reported by a Norwood Avenue homeowner on Oct. 13.
  • Between 3 p.m. Oct. 13 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 14, someone went through a Milland Drive woman's car's glove box. The woman said nothing was missing.
  • A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near a McDonald's on Fort Salonga Road on Oct. 14. Northport police remained until Suffolk police arrived.
  • A Waterview Lane resident reported a grand larceny on Oct. 14.
  • Police asked a Fifth Avenue homeowner to lower the music during a loud party at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 14. The homeowner agreed to keep the noise to a minimum.
  • Police went to a Milland Drive home on Oct. 14 to check on the welfare of a mother and daughter on Oct. 14. A man told police that in March, he called his daughter to wish her a happy birthday, and while they spoke, she was crying and not acting herself. The man told police that after speaking with his daughter that day, he believed that she and the mother were being held against their will and wanted the police to conduct a welfare check at the residence. A man living in the home told police that the two women do not live in the home, nor does he know anyone by those names. Police found there was no one in the house being held against their will. Police tried to call the man who originally called the police back but could not reach him.
  • A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle parked on Seaview Terrace on Oct. 15.
  • A motor vehicle crash was reported on Fort Salonga Road on Oct. 15.
  • A phone scam was reported by a woman living on Mariners Lane on Oct. 15. The woman says a man she does not know called her house phone and claimed to be her grandson. The woman was aware of the scam and did not entertain the caller.
  • People tried to take farmers market no-parking signs from Municipal Lot #1 on Oct. 15 but were caught by the police. The police admonished the people into putting the signs back.
  • A man told police that on Oct. 16, he saw a man climbing down a ladder at Village Dock when he fell off the bottom rung and into the water. He told the police the man got himself out of the water and declined help from him. Police looked around the area but could not find the man who fell into the water.
  • A deer got stuck in a fence on Hawkins Drive on Oct. 16. The deer was severely injured, stuck in the aluminum fence with a broken leg. Police euthanized the deer. The homeowner said he would take care of having the deer removed.
  • A Church Street resident put a refrigerator that still had its doors on out to the curb. The owner agreed to remove the doors when police arrived.
