Northport Police Blotter: Minibike Driver Nearly Hits Pedestrians
The driver weaved in and out of traffic, almost crashing into pedestrians, police say. The driver used sidewalks and parking lots to escape.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent arrests and incidents from the Northport Village area, from Nov. 4 through Nov. 10.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Ariel Gonzalez-Aguilar, 20, of Bay Shore, violated an order of protection issued back on Aug. 21, and was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal contempt: disobedience, police said.
- Wirli Akbar, 39, of Brentwood, sped on Scudder Avenue with a suspended license, and was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation: three or more suspensions, speeding: posted zone, equipment: vehicle manufactured after 1952: two stop lamps and operate motor vehicle by unlicensed driver on Nov. 7, police said.
Incidents
- A lost dog found on Oak Street on Nov. 4 was brought to North Shore Animal Hospital so the owner could be determined.
- A woman just returned to her Main Street home from work and began preparing her lunch for the next day when her very drunk mother became hostile and started cursing and yelling at her for no apparent reason, telling her to leave the apartment. The drunk mother refused medical attention. The incident happened Nov. 5.
- A man's paddle board was stolen at Steers Beach on Nov. 6.
- Two Bayview Avenue neighbors were having a verbal dispute over where one of them parked her car. The neighbors said they'd stay away from one another. The incident happened Nov. 7.
- While patrolling, an officer saw someone driving a small, unregistered minibike westbound on Fort Salonga Road, weaving in and out of traffic and nearly hitting pedestrians. Officers tried to stop the driver, but they got away using sidewalks and parking lots. The incident happened Nov. 8.
