- Ingrid Campbell, 59, of Northport, was driving around while recklessly yelling, screaming, and cursing at people walking on Seaview Terrace at 6:51 p.m. Saturday, police said. An officer went to Campbell's home and rang the bell in an attempt to ask her why she was yelling at people, but she then ran to her car from the back door and started backing down the driveway towards another officer and police car which was partially blocking the driveway, police said. The officer told Campbell to stop the car, to which she then backed up, stopped, drove forward, stopped and then once more backed up towards the officer, causing him to jump out of the way to avoid getting run over, police said. Campbell then crashed into the front bumper of the police car, causing damage, police said. In a bid to stop Campbell's car, the officer shattered the windshield with a punch, and the assisting officer shattered the driver's side glass, police said. Campbell was arrested and charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree attempted assault: reckless deadly weapon, attempt aggravated assault upon a police officer, reckless driving, no/expired inspection certificate, unsafe backing and fourth-degree criminal mischief: recklessly damages. Campbell was brought to Suffolk County Police Fourth Precinct to be held for arraignment in First District Court. Her car was impounded and brought to a tow yard in Westhampton.
