Northport Police Blotter: People Try To Break Into Cars
A resident showed officers Ring footage of people trying to open car doors, police say. ALSO: A loose sailboat causes damage.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Jan. 30 through Feb. 5.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A white SUV with no lights on was parked on Mar Kan Drive on Jan. 30. Police could not find the car. A resident went to police headquarters with more information, saying that he has Ring video footage of the occupants from the car trying to open doors of vehicles on the block, which were locked. The man told police his vehicle was gone through but nothing was taken.
- A bus bumped into a wall on June Avenue on Jan. 31. The driver told police she bumped a curb or wall while trying to turn her bus around at the gate on June Avenue. There was no damage to the wall or curb, according to police. The bus sustained back bumper damage.
- Possible gunshots were heard on Scudder Place around 9:10 p.m. Jan. 31. Police responded and found the area quiet.
- A woman told police on Feb. 2 she received a notification on her phone that it was
tracking an Apple Airtag. She said she does not own an Airtag and was worried that she was being tracked. Police tried to find the Airtag using the woman's phone and could not find one. Police told the woman there's a chance her phone accidentally pinged. - A sailboat broke loose from its mooring on Woodbine Avenue on Feb. 3 and was being pushed
up against the property owner's gangway and bulkhead, causing damage. The Huntington Harbor Master was called to remove it. The homeowner said he had contacted the Coast Guard to make them aware. The boat owner went to the scene, as well. - A bird police thought was injured flew away from Municipal Lot #2 on Woodbine Avenue on Feb. 3.
- A boat capsized in Woodbine Marina on Feb. 3. The boat owner was in the process of having the vessel removed.
- A pipe broke in a Vail Street home on Feb. 4. The main water supply to the house was shut off, and the homeowner contacted a plumber.
- A water line broke at an Asharoken home on Feb. 5. The Northport Fire Department responded, and the main water line to the home was shut.
- A man fainted at Napper Tandy's on Feb. 5. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
