Northport Police Blotter: Person Trapped In Elevator Is Rescued

Other incidents include youths riding bikes recklessly in a park, and a kid being brought on a boat without a floatation device, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Aug. 24 through Aug. 30.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Someone found an LG cell phone in the Village Park bathroom and turned it into police headquarters on Aug. 25. The phone was placed in the temporary bin.
  • A woman fainted at Whales Tale on Aug. 25. Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hospital.
  • Someone was driving erratically on Fort Salonga Road on Aug. 25; Suffolk police notified Northport police over radio. Northport police stopped the car and waited until backup Suffolk officers arrived. The driver was warned and admonished.
  • A group of kids on bicycles were riding them recklessly around Village Park on Aug. 25. The group was warned and admonished, and they agreed to leave.
  • An officer patrolling Northport Harbor saw a boat being operated with a child under 12 on board who didn't have a personal flotation device. The operator was issued a ticket. The incident happened Aug. 28.
  • Someone was trapped in an elevator on Bayview Avenue. Northport police and the Northport Fire Department freed the person. The incident happened Aug. 28.
  • Police responded to Union Place for a report of a group of males fighting on Aug. 29. Police found the listed person having a verbal argument with a couple of his friends. An officer told the friends to leave, which they did. The officer remained until the boy was picked up and driven home.
  • Police responded to Franklin Street for a report of a neighbor yelling in front of a home. Police found the neighbor having an argument with the homeowner. As the fight happened past 2 a.m., police told the neighbor to go home for the night, which he agreed to do. The incident happened Aug. 30.
  • A man went to police headquarters on Aug. 30 to report he's had two incidents over the weekend with neighborhood youths doing "ring and runs." The man recognized a few of the youths and called their parents regarding their children's behavior. The man wanted the incident to be documented for informational purposes only. He declined to name any of the kids, and also declined to take any of the legal actions outlined to him by police. Police told him to call if any more incidents occur.
