Northport Police Blotter: Possible Alcohol Overdose, Brush Fire, More
ALSO: Police responded to multiple crashes, searched for a lost dog, and tried to settle multiple arguments.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 20 through March 26.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- A summons was issued to a 2009 Hyundai parked in a no-parking zone at Little Sprouts By The Sea on Scudder Avenue on March 20.
- A brush fire on Waterside Avenue was extinguished by the Northport Fire Department on March 20. Dry leaves ignited by a hot landscape equipment muffler caused the fire.
- A criminal mischief incident was reported by an Ackerly Terrace resident on March 22.
- Two Waterside Avenue neighbors argued on March 22. A man told police that a woman routinely leaves the music on in her apartment at an unreasonable level when she leaves, as well as piles of garbage up around his BBQ. Police called the woman, who said she'd be home soon to lower the music and remove the garbage.
- Police impounded a car with a suspended registration parked on Prospect Avenue on March 24. Police told the owner to clear his outstanding DMV suspension and pay fines to the Northport Village Court. Police told him this was required before an impound released would be issued.
- A collision happened on Waterside Avenue around 11:10 a.m. March 24. Neither person involved in the crash wanted to file an accident report, but instead exchange information. Both vehicles sustained little to no damage and neither person was injured.
- Northport police helped Suffolk police with a group of kids fighting on Fort Salonga Road around 6 p.m. March 24. A small group of bicyclists were leaving when police arrived. No fighting was seen, and no one seemed injured or in need of help.
- Youths were reportedly riding a bike on someone's roof on Scudder Avenue at 7 p.m. March 24. Police searched the area but could not find the kids.
- Someone left the scene of a crash in Municipal Lot #1 on Constitution Square around 11:30 p.m. March 24.
- Men were yelling obscenities around 1:30 a.m. March 25 on Main Street. The men agreed to call an Uber and leave the area when police arrived.
- A vehicle collision was reported on Fort Salonga Road at 3:30 a.m. March 25. Northport police waited for Suffolk police to arrive.
- Police helped a driver whose vehicle became disabled in an empty parking lot at Saint Philip Neri Church on March 25.
- A man fell unconscious at Robke's Country Inn on Fort Salonga Road on March 25. He regained consciousness by the time police arrived. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
- A "suspicious" paint can was reported at Trinity Episcopal Church on March 26. The empty can was disposed of.
- Police were called to Locust Road for a report of a possibly drunken driver around 11 a.m. March 26. A woman told police she lost her brakes and power steering. Police told her to leave the car on the side of the road and call for a tow, which she agreed to do.
- Youths were reportedly throwing rocks and dirt at a car on Waterside Avenue on March 26. The kids' mom said her children were playing in the front yard on the retaining wall and accidentally knocked some dirt onto a man's car. Police saw a little dirt on the hood and one small scratch on the roof of the vehicle that could be from a rock. Police advised both parties to avoid each other and suggested the man file a civil suit if he wants to proceed further with the matter.
- Police saw a man stumbling on the sidewalk of Main Street around 8:20 p.m. March 26. The man was extremely intoxicated, struggling to stand and did not know where he was, police said. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital for what police said seemed was an alcohol overdose.
- A dog got loose on Main Street around 11 p.m. Police could not find the dog.
