Northport Police Blotter: Possible SBA Loan Scam Reported

ALSO: Two car crashes reported, a dog that got loose could not be found, and a baby having a seizure was brought to a hospital, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 4 through March 10.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A Locust Road resident went to police headquarters on March 5 to report a possible Small Business Association loan scam. She told police she got a letter from the SBA stating she had an outstanding loan from 2022 that would need to be repaid. The woman has never had a small business or a loan from the SBA. She contacted the SBA to report the letter she received. The SBA requested a police report for its investigation. The woman sustained no monetary loss.
  • A car crashed into a fence on Jefferson Avenue on March 5.
  • A person was issued a ticket on March 5 instead of an arrest for displaying a counterfeit NYS inspection sticker.
  • A baby was possibly having a seizure on Lisa Drive on March 6. Northport Rescue brought the baby to Huntington Hospital.
  • A motor vehicle crash was reported on Fort Salonga Road on March 8.
  • A brown dog got loose on Church Street on March 9. Police searched the area but could not find the dog.
  • A summons was issued to the driver of a vehicle that was blocking a Main Street driveway on March 10.
