Northport Police Blotter: Scammer Pretended To Be Reverend

ALSO: Argument with Amazon driver; and a good Samaritan turned in a lost credit card, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 11 through March 17.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A driver's vehicle became disabled on Church Street on March 12. Police helped the driver move the vehicle from the road so they could safely wait for AAA.
  • Police responded to Main Street on March 12 for a report of scam text messages. The woman said she received text messages from a number stating to be her Reverend from her church looking for gift cards for donations. She realized it was a scam and did not suffer a loss. She deleted the text messages and wanted to document the incident for informational purposes.
  • Leaf blowers were being used at 7:36 a.m. March 14 on Fort Salonga Road. An officer told the person using the leaf blow about the village code and work was stopped immediately.
  • A summons was issued to the owner of a vehicle that was parked for multiple days on Valley Avenue on March 15.
  • Police were called to Maple Circle on March 15 for an argument between a resident and two men in an Amazon truck. The caller said he had an argument with the Amazon driver and his
    passenger when they drove down his driveway instead of parking in the street and walking to deliver his package. The Amazon employees were no longer at the home when police arrived.
  • A drunken man suffered injuries after falling on Church Street on March 16. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
  • Someone found a Jet Blue credit card and turned it in to police headquarters on March 16. The property owner was called in to collect it.
  • An unconscious man was found on Asharoken Avenue on March 17. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
  • An Amazon driver was driving over hedges on Goldenrod Avenue on March 17. Police spoke with both parties, and the driver and property owner agreed to work it out themselves.
