Northport Police Blotter: Shoplifting Kids Banned From Candy Store
ALSO: Police rescued a 1-year-old who got locked in a bathroom with a tub full of water, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Feb. 20 through Feb. 26.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A dead deer was found floating in the water behind Porpoise Court on Feb. 20. Police could not reach the deer, so they called the Northport Highway Department to dispose of it.
- A group of kids went into Sweet Arts multiple times and ate candy without paying for it, a staffer told police. They were also accused of stealing items. When confronted, they were disrespectful and harassed the store clerk, staff told the police. The caller does not know their identities and wants the incident documented for informational purposes at this time. She was advised to call police the next time the kids return to the shop. The most recent instance was Feb. 20.
- A dog got loose on Church Street on Feb. 20. Police could not find it.
- Police went to Sweet Arts on Feb. 21 to identify and tell a group of kids they were no longer welcome to enter the store because of past incidents of shoplifting. Their parents were notified.
- A man suffered a medical emergency on James Street after he took chocolate-covered psychedelic mushrooms on Feb. 22, police said. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
- A man reported on Feb. 23 he was receiving numerous phone calls from a number which returned to a fake Washington Tech company, police said. The man told the caller not to call and he would be contacting the police department. The man did not receive any further calls. The man also stated he had a fraudulent pending charge to his credit card for an Apple 11 iPhone. The man said he notified Apple and his credit card and had the charges stopped. The man did not sustain any monetary damages. He was also advised to change his credit card number.
- A 1-year-old got locked inside a bathroom with a tub full of water on Sailfish Place on Feb. 23. Police officers opened the door with no damage to it. The child was standing on the other side of the door, not in the tub, and appeared in good condition, police said.
- An injured deer was euthanized in the roadway of Steers Beach on Feb. 24. Its carcass was removed.
- An unresponsive man was brought to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue on Feb. 25.
