Northport Police Blotter: Teen Who Drove While Drunk Arrested
A boy was driving 60 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, police say. ALSO: Reckless motorcyclist leads police chase, shop stolen from, litterer ticketed.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from March 13 through March 19.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- A teenage boy was driving a 2004 Toyota eastbound on Fort Salonga Road over the solid-white traffic lane marker around 1:30 a.m. March 18, police said. The minor, whose name or age cannot be released by the police, then drove over the solid double-yellow lane markings multiple times while traveling eastbound at 60 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, police said. Police spoke with the boy, whose breath smelled of alcohol, and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and his speech was slurred, police said. An officer found an open bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey and hard cider cans, police said. The boy told police he had been drinking earlier, police said. The teen was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI: BAC reading, third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, unsafe lane change, speeding: posted zone, consumption of alcoholic beverages, and unlawful possession of alcoholic beverage by person under 21.
Incidents
- Smoke was reported in a North Road home on March 13. The Northport Fire Department
responded and found no fire or CO hazard. The cause of the smoke is unknown. - Someone was doing doughnuts in the dirt lot in the Steers Ball field parking lot and
driving erratically in the restricted area behind the ball fields. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was warned and admonished by police. There was no apparent permanent damage. - Someone left the scene of a crash on Main Street on March 15.
- A woman lost her handicap parking permit and reported it to police on March 16. She told police she was in Fort Meyers, Florida, and left her pass in the rental car. Her attempts
to have the rental company find the pass have failed. She needed a police report for a new pass to be issued by Village Hall. - A sick raccoon was reported on the front porch of a Highland Avenue home on March 16. Police euthanized the raccoon.
- Police tried to stop a motorcyclist who was driving recklessly eastbound on Fort Salonga and Elwood roads around 11 p.m. March 16. The motorcyclist did not stop. Police called the pursuit off after the motorcyclist continued to drive recklessly. The rider was last seen going southbound on Larkfield Road.
- A man was asked to leave Gunther's Tap Room before 1:45 a.m. March 17. The man continued to wait outside for the bartender to leave. Police arrived, and the bartender was able to lock up the bar and leave without further issue.
- A credit card was found on Main Street on March 17. Police shredded the card after the credit card company asked for the card to be destroyed.
- A person who littered in Municipal Lot #2 on March 18 was issued a ticket.
- Someone on Scudder Avenue asked to file a police report on March 18 that the United States Government is paying to have Ukraine children sent to Africa. The woman, police said, did not appear to be a danger to herself or others.
- The Consignment Shop on Main Street reported a petty larceny on March 19.
- A motor vehicle crash happened on Fort Salonga Road at 2:20 p.m. March 19. Northport police remained until Suffolk police arrived.
