Northport Police Blotter: Veteran Reported Missing From VA Found

ALSO: Officers helped a man needing oxygen; another man fainted at an athletic complex; and a driver was admonished for speeding police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Jan. 1 through Jan. 7.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Suffolk police asked Northport police on Jan. 1 to check Clancy Drive for a person reported missing. The person was not found in Northport, but Manorville.
  • A small outdoor fire was reported on Clipper Drive on Jan. 2. Northport firefighters doused it.
  • A resident of the Northport VA Hospital was reported missing on Jan. 3. Suffolk police found the person in East Northport and brought them back to the VA Hospital.
  • A Laurel Avenue resident, who said he is oxygen dependent, was unable to get his oxygen working on Jan. 4. Police helped him get his oxygen to work.
  • An officer saw a refrigerator at the curb on Laurel Avenue for disposal on Jan. 5. The doors were attached, so the officer removed them.
  • Police were called to Main Street for a report of leaf-blowers at 10:37 a.m. Jan. 5. The caller told police that the landscaping crew had started before the appropriate time in the morning and had been using the blowers for more than two hours. The officer did not observe any violations at this time and advised the caller to call this agency at the time she believes the landscapers are in violation so the crew could be informed of the village code regarding fuel powered landscaping equipment and/or cited.
  • A 70-year-old man fainted at the Northsport Athletic Facility on Jan. 5. He was conscious and alert when help arrived. Northport Rescue brought him to Huntington Hospital.
  • A driver was admonished by police for speeding near Ocean Avenue on Jan. 6.
