Northport Police Blotter: Woman Followed By White Van

ALSO: A leaves fire was put out, lost items brought into police headquarters, a man upset at tennis being played, and more, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Sept. 12 through Sept. 18.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • A loose dog was out on Bayview Avenue on Sept. 13, but police could not find it.
  • A Fransal Court homeowner said she contacted the village administrator on Sept. 13 because storm debris keeps washing into her back yard and pool area after storms.
  • A woman out running in the Steers pit area reported on Sept. 13 that she was being followed by a white, work-style van with two men inside. She said every time she turned down a different road, the van would follow her. Police could not find the van, but told the woman to call 911 if something similar happened again.
  • A neighbor was irate that people had just finished playing tennis at the Northport Tennis Club on Sept. 13, police said. The neighbor was unable to explain to the police exactly why he was upset. The neighbor continued to scream and yell obscenities at the police, according to police. The neighbor was upset at the tennis players playing tennis, police said. The officer requested the neighbor to calm down and that the tennis players had left the area.
  • Old fireworks were brought into police headquarters on Sept. 14 to be destroyed.
  • Multiple dinghies took on water at Northport Village Dock because of the recent rainfall. None of the dinghies were in danger of sinking, but the owners were called to correct the situation.
  • Leaves were on fire on Fort Salonga Road on Sept. 15. The Northport Fire Department responded to soak the area with water.
  • A man lost his wallet in Cow Harbor Park between 3 and 5 p.m. on Sept. 15. He says his light brown wallet contained a NYS class A driver's license, United States Military ID card, and four credit cards that have been canceled.
  • A summons was issued to the driver of an illegally parked vehicle in Municipal Lot #1 on Sept. 16.
  • A woman lost her wallet while working as a vendor in Northport Village Park on Sept. 17. Police advised her to hold or cancel her credit cards. Police searched the park but could not find the wallet.
  • A summons was issued to the driver of a vehicle parked in Municipal Lot #7 on Sept. 18.
  • A summons was issued to the driver of a vehicle blocking a Scudder Avenue driveway on Sept. 18. The vehicle was also parked in a no parking zone marked with zebra stripes on the asphalt.
  • A vinyl multicolored child's purse was found and dropped off at police headquarters on Sept. 18. The purse contains a gift card and USC.
  • Someone was urinating in public at Feed & Grain at 6 p.m. Sept. 18.
  • A driver left the scene of a crash on Lewis Road on Sept. 18.
