Northport Police Blotter: Woman Had 52 Hypodermic Needles In Bag
ALSO: There were several calls made for people reportedly not social distancing, police say.
NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from May 11 through May 17.
The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Katherine Leonard, 36, of Northport, called a woman a "f****ing idiot," raised her hands and shoved her after the woman had just gotten off the phone, police said. The woman almost got knocked over, police said. Leonard was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment on May 13. She was brought to Northport Village Police Department where she was processed and held for arraignment.
- Lisa A. Andronica, 29, of Holtsville, was behind the wheel of a 2003 Ford with its lights on at Woodbine Avenue at 1:49 a.m. May 17, police said. The officer said the car was "suspicious," police said. The officer interviewed Andronica, who said she was waiting to pick up a friend, police said. The officer saw a hypodermic needle in plain sight in a bag owned by Andronica, police said. The officer searched the rest of the car and found 52 hypodermic needles in the bag, police said. Andronica was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument on May 17.
Incidents
- Police responded to a Main Street apartment for a noise disturbance at 2:24 p.m. May 11. A man said his neighbor was being excessively loud in her apartment and disturbing him.
- While patrolling Laurel Avenue, police noticed a woman possibly unconscious in her car around 11:30 p.m. May 11. She said while she was driving, she felt like she was going to pass out. Northport Rescue responded, but the woman refused medical attention.
- Police responded to Scudder Avenue for a reported kicked door. The caller, a woman, was asked to come outside to be interviewed by an officer. She opened her apartment window and refused to go outside. She told the officer "everyone in the building was coughing and sneezing." The officer tried several times to get her to go outside, but she didn't. The officer told the woman to reach out to the department when she was ready to make a report. The officer also notified the Suffolk County Mobile Crisis Team to make an assessment. The incident happened May 12.
- A man visited police headquarters to report his boat, left in Northport Harbor, was damaged. He said there was damage that hadn't been there last he saw the boat. The damage included broken stanchions and teak damage to the port side. He said the damage happened sometime between May 8 and May 13, and that he wanted to file a report for insurance purposes. The incident was reported May 13.
- A woman at Rockin' Fish wasn't able to pay for the drink she ordered. An employee said she'd waive the charge, but that she wanted the woman to leave. An officer told the woman it was in her best interest to leave, which she did. The incident happened May 13.
- Police responded to Steers Beach for a report of kids not social distancing. An officer didn't see any violations. The incident happened 3:42 p.m. May 13.
- Police responded to Scudder Park for a report of kids not social distancing. An officer didn't see any violations. The incident happened 4 p.m. May 13.
- A car was speeding on Woodbine Avenue. An officer found the car, and the driver was warned and admonished. The incident was reported around 4:45 p.m. May 13.
- Police responded to a home for a report of an obscene letter. A man said it was addressed to his daughter, who doesn't live there anymore. No threats were made. Police contacted the daughter, who asked that the incident be documented for informational purposes. This was reported May 14.
- Transformer wires caught fire on Eatons Neck Road at 10:57 p.m. May 14.
- A pole caught fire on Eatons Neck Road around 2 a.m. May 15.
- A woman went into headquarters to ask about items missing from her wallet. She said on May 14, items went missing from inside her wallet, which she left on a table in her backyard. Missing items include a key to a storage unit, a business card for the storage unit, a medical ID card, and a NSIC Bank debit card. An officer contacted the woman's mother who also lives at the home. The mother said she had no idea where the items are. A report was completed for informational purposes only. The incident was reported May 15.
- There was a road rage incident on Main Street around 12:30 p.m. May 15.
- A portable "slow down" was in the middle of the road at Scudder Place. The sign was removed, and the street opened up. The incident happened May 15.
- Police responded to James Street for groups of people not social distancing at 7:51 p.m. May 15. Police found the groups, and said everyone was following the guidelines.
- Police responded to Steers Beach for a large group of kids not social distancing around 8 p.m. May 15. Police found no large groups on the beach, and everyone there was following the guidelines.
- Police responded to Belknap Drive for a report of a possible bank fraud. A woman said she had a transfer of $5,000 from her savings account into her checking account. The woman didn't suffer any monetary loss and was told to speak with her bank on the next business day. The incident was reported May 16.
- Police responded to Beach Avenue at 8:43 a.m. May 17 for a report of construction work being done despite a stop work order issued on May 16. An officer spoke with the Village administrator, who said there was to be no construction or grading of land happening on the premises before 9 a.m., and that the property owner did not have the required work permits. The property owner was told that all heavy machinery needed to be removed from the property by the end of the day, as well as the silt fence installed around large piles of soil. The man was told any more construction work would leave him subject to a fine.
- Police responded to Village Park for a report of people gathering without using personal protective equipment or social distancing. An officer saw numerous people in the park, but everyone was following the guidelines. The incident happened May 17.
