Northport Police Blotter: Worker Trapped In Office Freed By Officers

ALSO: A driver did donuts in a parking lot, a deer was put down, and a dead opossum was found, police say.

NORTHPORT, NY — Check out some recent police incidents for the Northport Village area from Feb. 6 through Feb. 12.

The Northport Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Police were called to Napper Tandy's on Feb. 6 for a man refusing to leave the bar. He told police he was waiting for an Uber ride home. Police waited at the bar until the man was picked up by the Uber.
  • Police took someone's driver's license at a traffic stop on Fort Salonga Road on Feb. 6 because it was suspended. The man was irate and cursing at police officers when he was issued his ticket and told his license would be taken.
  • An open manhole was found on Waterside Avenue on Feb. 7. Police watched the area until all manholes were secure.
  • A raccoon was found on a Bluff Point Road porch on Feb. 8. The raccoon, which police determined to be healthy, ran off.
  • An employee was locked in an office on Main Street on Feb. 8. Officers opened the door, which was jammed because a jacket was stuck in the latch. Neither the door or jacket were damaged. The employee was told to contact the building's manager to see if the lock works.
  • A deer stuck on a fence on Hawkins Drive was euthanized by the police on Feb. 9. The Northport Highway Department was called to retrieve the carcass.
  • A dead opossum was found on Schooner Road on Feb. 9 and disposed of by police.
  • A woman overdosed on THC on Feb. 9. She was conscious and alert as Northport Rescue brought her to Huntington Hospital.
  • Police tried to stop two motorcyclists who refused to pull over and then took off at a high rate of speed on Fort Salonga Road on Feb. 10.
  • Tree work was being done on Fort Salonga Road at 7:36 a.m. Feb. 10. Police told the crew they needed to wait until 8 a.m.
  • A possibly sick raccoon was found on Gilbert Street on Feb. 10. The raccoon seemed healthy and ran off, police said.
  • Youths on bikes were reportedly blocking Main Street traffic around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 11, but police could not find the kids.
  • Someone was doing donuts in the parking lot of Scudder Park on Feb. 11. Police stopped the car when the driver tried to leave the lot. Instead of a ticket, the driver agreed to rake the parking lot to fix all the ruts he created. The driver's father, who owned the vehicle, also went to the scene.
  • A smoldering bonfire on Steers Beach on Feb. 11 was extinguished by the Northport Fire Department.
