Northport Rotary Donates 10,000 Children's Books

The books were donated to Hindi's Libraries, a nonprofit that donates children's books across the world.

NORTHPORT, NY — The Northport Rotary Book Drive collected 10,000 children's books this year, and 200 boxes of books were donated to Hindi's Libraries, according to a news release.

Hindi's Libraries, a nonprofit that donates new and gently used children's books all over the world, also received $2,000 from the Northport Rotary to help with shipping costs. Judy Farabaugh, a representative from the Northport Rotary, along with several members of the community group, delivered the books to the home of Leslie Gang, co-founder of Hindi's Libraries.

The rotary's mission includes supporting education and promoting literacy, has been a supporter of Hindi's Libraries since the organization's inception.

Hindi's Libraries' reach spans 50 states, as well as Israel, India, Puerto Rico, Haiti and Africa. Books are sent to recipients, completely free of charge. Since the nonprofit was founded in 2018, it has collected more than 250,000 books and partnered with 650 organizations worldwide. All books are dedicated in memory of Dr. Hindi Krinsky, 32-year-old educator and mother of five who suddenly died in August 2018 due to complications from Crohn's disease.
