Northport Senior Honored for Exceptional Volunteerism

A Northport High School senior was the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship award for her exceptional volunteerism through the nonprofit GlamourGals.

GlamourGals provides companionship and complimentary beauty makeovers to women living in senior homes. The organization was founded by former Commack High School student Rachel Doyle 16 years ago.

“In my four years as Northport High School’s GlamourGals president, I learned a lot about what it means to be a leader,” Yeomans said in a press release. “Glamourgals has taught me that everyone deserves to be heard, and that collaboration with others and their ideas can lead to great things. I am so proud to have been a part of this organization.
Yeomans was awarded the scholarship, which will go towards academic pursuits, at the Glammy Scholarship Awards, held on May 21 at the JW Marriott in Manhattan. The GlamourGals board voted on scholarship winners based on anonymous applications that were submitted. One volunteer and four leaders, including a chapter president, vice president, treasurer and public relations officer, were awarded scholarships.

Yeomans will be attending the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, where she hopes to start another GlamourGals chapter.
