Northport Woman Seriously Hurt in Huntington Station Hit-and-Run

The crash occurred Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash in Huntington Station that left a Northport woman with serious injuries Tuesday afternoon.

According to authorities, Diana Carvelli, 69, was driving a 2012 Jeep westbound on Jericho Turnpike, east of Depot Road, when a pickup truck traveling eastbound collided with her vehicle at 4:30 p.m.

Carvelli was transported to Huntington Hospital, but was later transferred to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset where she is being treated for a serious injury. Police said her injury is non-life threatening.

The pickup truck driver did not stop after the crash and fled eastbound on Jericho Turnpike. Detectives believe the truck may have damage on the driver’s side and the driver’s side mirror may be missing.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives ask anyone who may have witnessed or has information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
