Officers Revive Man Suffering From Heroin Overdose in Northport

The man, who had no pulse, was found with a hypodermic syringe in his lap Tuesday afternoon, police say.

A 40-year-old man suffering from a heroin overdose was revived by Northport Police officers Tuesday afternoon.

Northport Police officers responded to a 911 call for a man who was unconscious after overdosing on heroin at a Norwood Avenue location at 4:15 p.m. The person who reported the incident told police she found a hypodermic syringe on the man’s lap and removed it.

The man was blue in the face, not breathing and had no pulse before officers administered one dose of nasal Narcan and began other first aid procedures. The man began to breathe after several minutes and eventually regained consciousness, police say. He was transported to Huntington Hospital by Northport Fire Rescue.

Lt. Michael Cook and police officers Robert Ramonetti and Steven Golub were identified as the Northport Police officers who helped save the man’s life.
