NORTHPORT, NY — The Perles family held its annual Halloween bake sale last week, and despite some not-so-pleasant weather, the event was still a big success. The family raised $1,555 for the Northport Food Pantry.

Halle Brenner Perles, the mother, said the family delivered the funds on Tuesday. She runs the bake sale with her husband, Greg Perles, and their three daughters, Dylan, 21, Zoe, 19 and Kyra, 14.

Overall, the Perles have now raised over $15,500 towards the food pantry, with their motivation stemming from the idea of the injustice of poverty present in "Oliver," a play Dylan performed in when she was 4.

Dylan came up with the idea when she was just 7 years old and brainstormed with her then-5-year-old sister, Zoe.

This year, the family sold pumpkin breads with different fillings, apple cakes, chocolate chip loaves, chocolate chip cookies, Halloween-themed cookies painted elaborately like Frankenstein, pumpkins and ghosts, Frankenstein-themed Rice Krispie treats, banana breads, pumpkin pies, regular brownies, brownies in the shape of Halloween figures and cupcakes. There was even a make-your-own cupcake table.
