Photos: Community Splashes into Newly Reopened Waters

Members of the community jumped into the water to celebrate the reopening of the Centerport Yacht Club Beach on Monday.

The beach closed its doors seven years ago due to water quality concerns. Bathing is once again permitted at the beach thanks to aggressive water quality clean-up efforts.

County Executive Steve Bellone and Legislator William R. Spencer delivered the beach permit to the community.

Several local officials attended the reopening celebration.
